Scott Crump emerged from Phoneix victorious, becoming the first to dethrone RRM in ERSCA. And no, that is not a typo in the title. Merriam-Webster defines Crump as 1 Crunching sound; 2 Shell or bomb. Don’t act like you knew that either Scott. I was just going to make a joke about Krump dancing, but this is so much cooler. On-track things were less cool in the early stages. Hell, we didn’t even make it the first lap without a yellow. However, everyone got it straightened out and we actually finished on a decent green flag run. The action continued this week and based off my talks with the drivers, it isn’t stopping soon either.
Th Return of Eckes to ERSCA
You may remember some guy named Christian Eckes from the Daytona race. The iRacing newbie showed surprising talent. Although, after Chris Wright put down a solid performance in the Chairgatin’ machine last week, Eckes needed to match it. He did just that. Dominating the raucous beginning of the race before pit cycles. After that, it was pretty much anyone’s game. Earlier incidents had affected virtually every driver. Some worse than others. Nick Masse was able to stay up front all day despite numerous cautions. Crump and Josh Adams also managed to hold pace with Masse. Leading to a three-car sprint to the checkered. Ultimately, it was Scott Crump who pulled off the win. The first non-RRM driver to win a race in the ERSCA Pristine Auction Series. His teammates Kyle and Kenny Lowry, also sporting the bowling ball reminiscent scheme, were contenders all day as well.
Who Threw Banana Peels on the Track?
I’m not sure any drivers besides Eckes and Masse didn’t slide or spin out in the first 20 laps. They might have too. These damn 9:30 EST start times are hard on a working man, but it’s worth it. Similar to the Cup Series Race on Sunday, there were a lot of drivers struggling for grip. As the race progressed though, the cars settled. Were the guys too excited to cut the dogleg early on? Were there a lot of aggressive moves being made? Yes and yes. The gloves are certainly off at this point and contenders are presenting themselves every week. I like where this league is at right now. Plenty of excitement. Several “unique” personalities (y’all know who you are lol) and a hell of a lot of hard racing. With all the changes NASCAR is making, at least I know I got ERSCA to rely on for good racing if the Cup Series is ass next year.

Eckes enters the top five after proving Daytona’s performance wasn’t a fluke. The kid is here to play ball. or burn tires, whatever.
