Just amazing that I had to write that. I’ll be honest, I didn’t wake up and think to myself that I would be writing about if any former presidential staff members would be head coaching any NFL teams next year. But when it comes to the Cleveland Browns, they like to keep folks on their toes. The world has been on fire for the last few hours with news that Cleveland would like to interview the 64 year old former member of the college football selection committee. Now, it appears that Condoleezza Rice is taking her name out of the running for being the lead woman of the Dawg Pound.
Relief For Some
Some folks that completely scoffed at the idea that Rice could come in and make decisions based on what her assistants tell her are relieved that she is bowing out. Coaches that felt slighted that the Browns would overlook them to talk to Rice can rest easy knowing that they don’t have to compete with Condi Rice. Would of been a real shame to see Rice win more games than Hue Jackson so it yeah, Hue feels fantastic that Condi Rice is sparing him more embarrassment.
A Play Or Two
Condoleezza Rice did say however that she would like to call a play or two as if this is the Pro Bowl. I think that happened in the Pro Bowl a few years ago where fans were able to call plays if they passed out enough pro Goodell literature. She did say that she would definitely not ever run a prevent defense. Rice is a gal that understands that prevent defense prevents you from winning. Like it or not, with a philosophy like that, she already passed dozens of coaches that have been in the game for 25 years. Would have been nice to see what Condi could have done with Baker. That would have been a fun dynamic. Maybe Baker could have given her a tour of the RV. Oh well, maybe some fan fiction will get written about that.
