Media night came and went last night and there were some funny moments as usual. But one thing that I wish happened was that I wish Sean McVay was asked about the quarterback of the Patriots and then him struggle to remember who it is. It was a real opportunity for some good old fashioned humor and it stinks that we missed on it.
Sometimes, I think about situations in terms of skits as if I was a writer for SNL(not lame at all trust me). I am currently not that, I write for Belly Up Sports and that’s that. But I’ve I had it in my head since the Rams made it to the Big Game that it be really funny if being interviewed, Sean McVay alleged ultra, steel trap memory couldn’t recall Tom Brady’s name.
We’ve seen Sean McVay dazzle the mind with recalling individual plays from when he was a coach in Washington, which was impressive, to the not so impressive moment in the middle of the season where he rattled off each member of the Bears’ defense and threw in a football cliche with each name. People lost their minds each time, though the latter was no where near as good as the first time he did it.
That’s why Sean McVay not being able to recall who the QB for the New England Patriots is would be so good. Imagine McVay getting asked other memory questions and answering them accurately just going blank, looking up at the ceiling just trying to think as hard as he could to think of who the quarterback for New England could possibly be only to say “ya know what, I don’t know who it is. Can you tell me?” It be funny and I don’t care what you have to say to the contrary. SNL would be smitten with this skit, though only a small % would get it. But the best comics don’t cater to the masses, so if you want to pass this golden skit to Lorne Michaels, be my guest.
