It looks like WWE Studios and Netflix are teaming up for a new live action movie “The Main Event.” The movie will be directed by Jay Karas.
The film is based on the original screen by Larry Postel.
WWE Studios/ Netflix Team Together
The new movie will feature Seth Carr(Black Panther), Tichina Arnold(The Neighborhood, Everybody Hates Chris), Ken Marino(The Other Two, Black Monday, Bad Milo) and Adam Pally(Middle School: The Worst Years of my Life, The Mindy Project.)
The actors don’t stop there. WWE Superstars Kofi Kingston, The Miz and Sheamus and many others will be part of the movie as well.
WWE Studios’ producer Richard Lowell and executive producers Susan Levison and Maggie Malina are also also part of the production.
The Main Event Plot
The film is about a eleven year aspiring wrestler who discovers a magical mask. The wrestler enters a competition to become the next WWE Superstar.
Production began last week in Vancouver, British Columbia. The film is excited to premiere on Netflix in 2020.
There is currently no word if The Miz or Kofi Kingston will have to spend time away from WWE to film the flick.
Writer’s Take
Movies about sports are always the most inspiring ones of all. Rather it maybe football, basketball or wrestling, they always seem to bring a tear to our eyes. I believe as a wrestling fan “The Main Event” will be a great movie, and we will be able to put it down in history of sports movies. The movie will star The Miz, and he is already a good actor. Kofi Kingston should do a show stealer as well. Sheamus is part of it as well. I believe he will be great too. The year 2020 seems so far away, but it will be here before we know it; and the waiting will be over with. And it’s gonna be AWESOME!!
