When it comes to fantasy football sleepers, we always try to find guys that the industry loves and then we stick that into our minds at draft day. Sleepers are usually guys who are taking new roles on a team and are now starting or rookies who have upside coming out of college.
Here are my four fantasy football sleepers, one from each position for 2019. But they’re bounce back players that we drafted last year and were a little disappointing.
Fantasy Football Sleepers
Kirk Cousins-QB-Minnesota Vikings
Kirk Cousins signed a three-year, $84 million guaranteed contract with the Minnesota Vikings in 2018, which the season he had did not warrant the contract. But for fantasy purposes, Cousins was pretty good. He threw close to 4,300 yards, threw 30 touchdowns, and only 10 picks. As a result, Cousins finished as the 12th best fantasy quarterback last season. Finishing behind guys like Cam Newton and Philip Rivers, who are definitely late round picks. However, why do I have Cousins as my QB sleeper? It’s because of the revamped offensive line. Vikings signed free agent guard Josh Kline from the Tennessee Titans and took the top center in the draft Garrett Bradbury just to name a few. With this line, it makes Dalvin Cook look like a priority in the top rounds. Having Cooks behind him, Cousins can stretch the field with play action passes. Speaking of stretching the field, Cousins has one of the best wide receiver duos in the NFL to throw to in Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. With the talent around him, Cousins could possibly be a top 10 QB. His ADP (Average Draft Position) is QB 23 behind guys like Stafford, Allen and Garoppolo. I think Cousins is a steal this late in drafts.
Devonta Freeman-RB-Atlanta Falcons
Mr. Devonta Freeman ugh! I am coming back to you on draft day my friend. If we can put aside the last two years, we will be ok. However, I can see why people may be off of Freeman. Before injuries, Freeman was a top 10 back in Fantasy even with Tevin Coleman in the backfield. Coleman is now with the 49ers, and this could make Freeman even more valuable. Freeman should be the featured back with only Ito Smith behind him. He has a chance to be the Falcons bell cow baring any injuries. Everything points to him being healthy now and ready to go. Freeman’s current ADP has climbed from running back 18, to 15. That is right around Damien Williams and Leonard Fournette. I would take a stab at Freeman and if he stays healthy it will pay off.
Cortland Sutton-WR-Denver Broncos
My 2019 man crush belongs to Courtland Sutton. Now, I know the Broncos brought in Noah Fant to man the middle of the field and DaeSean Hamilton is also a rising star. But with the acquisition of Joe Flacco and the injury to Emmanuel Sanders. I feel this puts Sutton in a perfect position to shine. Sutton should be the number one wide receiver coming out of camp. Best part, in early workouts Sutton was impressed with Flacco’s deep ball. Sutton’s current ADP is at 41st wide receiver off the board. That is behind Marvin Jones and Larry Fitzgerald. Give me Sutton all day at this position.
Hunter Henry -TE- Los Angeles Chargers
I know its bad luck to take a guy with two first names and with an ACL injury that kept him out for 2018. However, reports say that Hunter Henry looks and feels good. With Virgil Green as his backup and no contract to the aging Antonio Gates, Henry has a chance to be this year George Kittle. We have seen the talent Henry has, but its just a matter of staying on the field. With Tyrell Williams now with the Oakland Raiders, that opens up 65 targets to be split up between Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. I think Henry, however, will take up a chunk of those targets. His current ADP is 6th out of all tight ends. It’s up to you to decide would you rather have Kittle, Howard or Engram at this range, I like Hunter.
