Jared Dudley has agreed to sign a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal is for one-year, $2.6 million. Dudley will add depth to Lakers depleted roster. While not a sexy free agent signing, Dudley does bring quality stuff to the table.
Three-Point Shooting
Playing with LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers will need players that can space the floor. Jared Dudley is 39 percent three-point shooter for his career. Last season with the Brooklyn Nets he shot 35 percent from three. With the Lakers, Dudley will be counted on to hit open shots, when Davis and James kick it to him.
Leadership In The Locker Room
We all know being on a team with LeBron James could be challenging at times with all the media narratives going around about James. While with the Nets, Dudley was the leader in the Locker room for a young Nets team. The former Nets player will take the pressure off of LeBron and Davis, helping them be a leader in the locker room. Dudley will keep everybody loose and relaxed. Also, he will make sure the team is ready to play.
Battle Tested
Lastly, Dudley is a battle-tested veteran, Dudley has played in some big games in his a 13-year career. With the Suns, he played in a lot of big playoffs games, hit some big shots. Dudley will not back down from nobody, he will have his teammates back.
Dudley may not be a player that can lift you to a championship, but he is a player every championship team needs. He brings shooting, toughness, and veteran leadership to the table. Dudley will be crucial for the Lakers this season both on and off the court. Laker fans may not be to hyped about this signing, but as the season goes on they will grow to love Dudley.
