There were three games in the WNBA on Thursday Night. The Los Angeles Sparks at Indiana Fever, Phoenix Mercury at Atlanta Dream, and Dallas Wings at Chicago Sky. Here is the WNBA Thursday night recap.
Los Angeles Sparks 87 Indiana Fever 83
The Los Angles Sparks got the win despite Candace Parker’s off night. Parker only scored six points on 3 of 8 shooting from the field. Stepping up on Parker’s off night was Chelsea Gray. Gray scored 30 points and was on fire from three-point land making seven three’s. She also dished out nine assists. Nneka Ogwumike had another solid game scoring 20 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Teaira McCowan added 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Fever. Candice Dupree added 17 points, but the fever came up short in this game.
Phoenix Mercury 65 Atlanta Dream 58
The Phoenix Mercury wrapped up the eighth and final playoff spot, Brittney Griner led all players with 21 points. She also added eight rebounds and four block shots. Diana Taurasi struggled in her third game back since coming back from injury. She scored no points but did manage to get eight assists and four rebounds.
Renee Montgomery led the Dream in scoring with 20 points on 7 out of 12 shooting from the field. She also added four three-pointers.
Dallas Wings 88 Chicago Sky 83
The Dallas Wings upset the Chicago Sky behind Arike Ogunbowale 35 points, tying her career-high. She shot 13-28 from the field and hit three three-pointers. Ogunbowale also added six assists and five rebounds. I think this performance all but wraps up the Rookie of the Year award for Ogunbowale. Isabelle Harrison helped Ogunbowale out by scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.
The Sky had five players in double digits. Diamond DeShields (17), Stefanie Dolson (15), Allie Quigley (16), Courtney Vandersloot(19), and Cheyenne Parker (10). But it was too much Arike Ogunbowale for the Sky.
