The Los Angeles Sparks and Las Vegas Aces matched up Saturday night in Las Vegas. The Sparks led for most of the game, but the Aces came back in the fourth quarter to win 92-86 — the game as a great game to watch. In the fourth quarter, both teams were playing with a playoff-like intensity.
All-Star Liz Cambage struggled in the game scoring just eight points on 3 of 12 shooting. Her teammates had her back, though.
Riquna Williams led the Sparks with 37 points on 10 of 22 shooting from the field. Williams also added seven three-pointers made, but it was not enough to give the Sparks the victory.
The Aces committed 16 turnovers, and the Sparks just had four, but Las Vegas outrebounded Los Angeles 48-27. The win moves the Aces up a half-game ahead of the Sparks for the third seed in the WNBA playoffs. The top four seeds earn a first-round bye.
A’ja Wilson
A’ja Wilson led the Aces in scoring with 24 points on 7 of 12 shooting. Wilson did an excellent job getting to the free-throw line, where she made 10-14. She also added 12 rebounds and three block shots to help lead Las Vegas to victory.
Kelsey Plum
Kelsey Plum came off the bench and gave the Aces a spark. She scored 20 points in the game. 17 of which came in the fourth quarter, where Plum took the game over and dominated. Without Plum’s performance, the Aces would not have won the game, she caught on fire and could not be stopped. Kelsey Plum was just recently moved to the bench and is handling it well.
Dearica Hamby
Dearica Hamby played a great all-around game scoring 12 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. She also played good team defense. You need players like Hamby to win the championship. Players that will do the little things and work hard on both ends of the floor.
Kayla McBride
Kayla McBride had a quiet 14 points; she hit 3 three-pointers in the game. One was a big three in the fourth quarter to help the Aces come back.
Epiphanny Prince
In her first action this season, Prince scored 10 points off the bench. She shot 4-6 from the field and hit two three-point shots. Prince is a veteran that knows how to play the game and will be a crucial factor in the Aces playoff run.
