The Kansas City Chiefs lost at home last week on Sunday night football against the Indianapolis Colts. Kansas City was home again this week against the Houston Texans. The defense was horrid was once again for Kansas City as the Texans upset the Chiefs on the road 31-24.
Deshaun Watson scored the game-winning one-yard touchdown run for the Texans with 6:17 remaining (2-point conversion pass from Watson to DeAndre Hopkins). Watson completed 30-of-42 passes for 280 yards one touchdown and two interceptions.
He also rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries and two touchdowns. Hopkins caught nine catches for 55 yards receiving.
Darren Fells was Houston’s leading receiver with nine catches for 69 yards receiving.
Kansas City jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a 46-yard touchdown pass by Patrick Mahomes to Tyreek Hill. Hill outjumped a Houston Texans defender and this was his first game back from the shoulder injury.
Tyreek Hill finished with five receptions for 80 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
With the Kansas City Chiefs leading 10-3 in the first-quarter, Mahomes threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Damien Williams. Williams finished with six rushing yards on one carry. He also caught one pass for 14 yards receiving and a touchdown.
The Texans erupted for 20 points in the second-quarter. Duke Johnson caught an 11-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson (missed extra-point). Johnson rushed for 34 yards on five carries. He also caught two passes for 20 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Carlos Hyde scored on a 2-yard touchdown run later in the second-quarter for Houston. He rushed for 116 yards on 26 carries and a score. Hyde also caught one pass for 14 yards receiving.
He was with Kansas City in the preseason, but they decided to release him before the regular season and Carlos Hyde made that defense pay today because it was absolutely horrendous.
Watson scored on a 3-yard rushing touchdown for Houston with seven seconds to go in the first-half.
Patrick Mahomes threw a 6-yard touchdown to Tyreek Hill in the third-quarter. Mahomes completed 19-of-35 passes for 273 yards three touchdowns and one interception. He also rushed for -1 yards on one carry.
The Kansas City Chiefs leading rusher in this game was LeSean McCoy with 44 yards rushing on eight carries. He also caught two passes for zero yards receiving.
Ka’imi Fairbairn made a 44-yard field goal in the first-quarter for the Houston Texans. He also missed a field goal later in the game.
Harrison Butker made a 41-yard field for in the first-quarter for Kansas City. He also missed a field goal later in the game.
These two teams could play each other again later in the season. Will we see the Texans upset the Chiefs again?
The Houston Texans (4-2) will be on the road against the Indianapolis Colts (3-2) next Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs (4-2) will be on the road against the Denver Broncos (1-4) on Thursday night.
