The Euroleague Women 2019-20 season is filled with incredible performances from the WNBA stars! As we take a look at the top 5 performers of Euroleague women Week 4 recap of the season! And they had a break for EuroBasketball tournaments as well.
An undefeated matchup as the UMMC to remain undefeated over the ZVVZ USK Praha
Brittney Griner and Finals MVP Emma Meesseman are back at it again with their dominating performances! Brittney Griner guided the team with 25 points and 9 rebounds and Meesseman’s double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Watch out for the foxes to those teams in Group A, they’re coming right at you!
Alina Iagupova’s breakout season with the Fenerbahce (3-1 record)
One of the MVP candidates for this Euroleague Women season is off to a great start. Lagupova has won 3 MVP performers during the Euroleague Women’s first 4 weeks into the season. Meanwhile, in week 4, she has gone to work with 28 rebounds (!!), 8 assists, and 6 steals. She almost had a triple-double!! And add to Fenerbahce’s win, Elizabeth Williams has a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks! This Fenerbahce team is really good at basketball! Watch out.
Meanwhile, DeWanna Bonner scored 17 points and 6 rebounds in Kursk’s loss at home to the Fenerbahce. I’m surprised about the Dynamo Kursk this season as their record is 2-2. Will they turn it around and get back to the final four?
Yvonne Turner does it again in Nadezhda’s win over Reyer Venezia
In Nadezhda’s 78-51, Turner leads the team as she scored 21 points and 4 steals for the win. Yvonne Turner continues to improve so much into the professional basketball anywhere she plays. (So proud to see her stepping up in Phoenix too!).
Diamond DeShields and Jillian Harmon leads Familia Schio to a close win over BLMA
Familia Schio has finally found a rhythm for Diamond DeShields in the team’s win over the BLMA. DeShields has 14 points along with Harmon’s double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds! Look out for more of DeShields content WNBA fans!!
For the BLMA, they never gave up on a fight! Stephanie Mavunga has a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. Gabby Williams has filled in the stats sheet with 13 points and 6 rebounds. With their 2-2 record, they look onto turning it around after the break.
Marine Johannes’ clutch moments in the 4th quarter leads the win for Lyon France
Lyon France has an incredible comeback win over the Sopron Basket at home. Marianne Johannes became clutch in the 4th quarter with her 8 points (her total is 13 points) to guide her team to a thrilling victory. Her future is bright in her basketball career.
Rebecca Allen leads the Arka Gdynia to their first win of the season over the Spar Citylift Girona
Rebecca Allen guides the Arka Gdynia to a 71-69 victory with 23 points and 5 rebounds. And along with that, her defense is unstoppable as she has 2 steals and 3 blocks. Marie Gulich has 6 points and 9 rebounds (7 of them are defensive) as well.
Cukurova bounces back after their rough loss from a week ago
The Cukurova have managed to solve their problems from a 54-point loss to a 5-point win over the TTT Riga. As Nia Coffey made great progress on defense with 9 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and 5 blocks. Meanwhile, Leonor Rodriguez leads the team in scoring with 15 points. With their .500 record (2-2), will they solve their rebounding woes as they acquire LaToya Sanders, Morgan Tuck, and Alex Bentley?
And there have been new signings. Like Marina Mabrey with the TTT Riga. Natalie Achonwa with the Bourges basket, joining her former Fever teammate Marissa Coleman, and more to come.
I’m very excited to share more opinions about WNBA stars in EuroLeague Women in the next few weeks!
