They call the Monday after the end of NFL regular season black Monday for coaches. The world or at least Cowboys fans around the world were waiting for the news that head coach Jason Garret has been fired by Jerry Jones. It is now January 1st and we are still waiting for the news. Jason Garret had two meetings with Jerry Jones and the inevitable has still not happened. Does this mean that maybe just maybe Jason Garret will be retained as coach? I just think it means Jerry Jones is letting his no one tells me what to do attitude to make more publicity for this once storied franchise.

Jerry has publicly stated that no one is going to put a timetable on when he has to make changes. Jerry is not worried about other teams hiring the high demand coaches because he knows he will get the best fit. Most NFL teams will decide their coaches fate ASAP so they get s jump on the competition. Not Jerry no one is going to tell him what to do, he has money, power, and an ego that is destroying this franchise.

I don’t believe for one second this waiting is because of his friendship with Jason Garret, it’s because Jerry is looking for the perfect controllable candidate. Now if I’m wrong and it is because of the friendship, that is another reason Jerry must pull away from day to day operations. Jerry already said he’s not firing the GM so no matter how long this debacle lasts it really doesn’t matter.

Jerry Jones needs to critique his own job as well as the coaches on this team. Who wants to work for this guy based on football winning percentage. Sure the next coach will get paid and be apart of an amazing experience but what makes anyone think they can win. It has been over 20 years the Cowboys played in the Super Bowl. Jerry has won super bowls but not with a team that Jimmy Johnson has his fingerprints on. Barry Switzer got a super bowl with Jimmy’s team don’t get that twisted. Jerry said he could get anyone to coach so Jimmy bailed and the rest is a dismal history. Jerry is a businessman he makes shrewd all the time, don’t tell me is waiting because it’s personal. He’s waiting because Jerry does what he wants when he wants and that’s that. He is a control freak who can’t get out of his own way. How many owners get in the way like Jerry does? One maybe two, that’s it, why because they trust the people they hire. Jerry Jones always chooses making news over making championships.

Don’t believe me then give me legitimate answer to why he won’t step down as GM? What has he done so great besides give big contracts to people? 8-8 sure tells me he should have paid other people especially on defense. The Cowboys drafts have gotten better but compared to the drafts of the early to mid 2000’s that’s not saying much. Go back and look at his draft history after Jimmy Johnson left, it’s hilarious.

So for those of you who keep checking updates to see when a coaching change will be made, stop. It doesn’t matter who is the coach of the Cowboys is because the owner will never change his ways. Thinking you are the smartest person in the room at all times is a good way to eat crow. Jerry, believe it or not you are not the smartest man in the NFL, talk to Robert Craft.
