The William Jessup Warriors rebounded after a slow start to beat the UC Merced Bobcats 87-76. William Jessup got off to a slow start early in the game, UC Merced started the game on 12 -2 run, before the Warriors got things going. The win moves, the Warriors record to 9-5 on the season, with conference play getting started Saturday night. Here are three keys that led the Warriors to victory.

Balanced Scoring Attack

William Jessup had six players in double digits. Isaiah Milan (15), Jourdan Johnson (12), Autin Dill (10), Luis Medearis(10), Sam Howlin (13), and Jayden DeJoesph (12). Howlin and DeJoesph led the charge off the bench; the bench scored 35 points in the game. Anytime you get this many players in double figures; you will usually win the game. The Warriors finished with 17 total assists in the game; Johnson led the team with six.

Three-Point Shooting

The Warriors shot 41.4% from three on 12-29 shooting. DeJoesph lead the team with 3 three-pointers, and Milan, Johnson, and Medearis added two apiece. William Jessup did an excellent job knockin down open three’s and hitting three’s to stop crucial UC Merced runs. Along with the three-point shooting, the Warriors shot 50% percent for the game. You Can’t ask for anything better than that.

Defense

William Jessup held UC Merced to shooting 42.6% from the field, after a hot start by the Bobcats, the Warriors clamped down defensively. The Warriors did an excellent job challenging shots at the basket and not allowing no easy layups. UC Merced shot 46% in the first half but only shot 41% in the second half.

Other than the first few minutes of the game, William Jessup pretty much controlled the whole game, and it helped lead them to the 87-76 victory. An excellent win to lead them into conference play.
