The Philadelphia 76ers have had a fantastic start to the NBA season. They are currently first in the Eastern Conference, and superstar center Joel Embiid is one of the top MVP candidates. The Sixers are one of the few true contenders in the NBA this season. However, Philadelphia has a problem. This problem is the Brooklyn Nets. The Sixers are a great team, but at the moment, no Eastern Conference team can stop the Nets’ offense. It’s clear that if Philly wants to win the championship, a significant trade must be made. These guys are realistic 76ers trade targets that could propel the Sixers to the finals.
Lonzo Ball
Despite being roasted for his horrific shooting form when he first came into the league, Lonzo Ball has turned himself into an elite shooter. This alone would make him a great addition for the 76ers, as they only make 10.8 three-pointers a game, which is 26th in the NBA. The 76ers have also been desperate for another player that can create opportunities for others with the ball in his hands. Although Lonzo has been playing off-ball more often this year, he has the ability to be a playmaker, as he showed last year when he averaged seven assists per game.
The trade:
Philadelphia receives: Lonzo Ball, Wenyen Gabriel
New Orleans receives: Tyrese Maxey, Mike Scott, Terrance Ferguson, PHI 2021 first round pick
Lauri Markkanen
While there haven’t been any trade rumors about Lauri Markkanen, it still would make sense for him to be moved because the Bulls are out of the playoff race, and Markkanen has an expiring deal. Lauri Markkanen can flat-out shoot. He is currently shooting 40 percent from three on 7.4 attempts per game. That’s unheard of for a seven-footer. Due to the Sixers’ size, he would be the perfect small-ball starting center for when Embiid is out. With Embiid in, Markkanen could be the 76ers’ sixth man that they’ve needed. Markkanen could be the go-to scorer off the bench and play close to 30 minutes a game for Philly.
The trade:
Philadelphia receives: Lauri Markkanen, Garrett Temple, Christiano Felicio
Chicago receives: Tyrese Maxey, Danny Green, PHI 2021 first round pick, PHI 2023 second round pick
Kyle Lowry
Bringing in Kyle Lowry is the best-case scenario for the 76ers. Lowry is a competitive and well-balanced player. Everything you want out of your point guard, Kyle Lowry gives you. He can create his own shot off the dribble, and he can create shots for others. Lowry also does things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. He is a great defender and isn’t afraid to take charges. Kyle Lowry is also a great three-point shooter who has championship experience.
The trade:
Philadelphia receives: Kyle Lowry, DeAndre’ Bembry, Paul Watson
Toronto receives: Tyrese Maxey, Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz, Mike Scott, Vincent Poirier, PHI 2021 first round pick, PHI 2023 first round pick, PHI 2021 second round pick
