Mac Jones is going to the Pro Bowl. He was selected as an alternate after Lamar Jackson opted out and Josh Allen respectfully declined. Joe Burrow would also be there, if not for the Superbowl.
Mac is the 5th rookie Patriot to earn himself a spot on the AFC all-star team. This should be a great experience for Jones to finish off the season. It is the cherry on top of his first year. He will now get the opportunity to work with the league’s best. He will get to build some relationships and maybe even do a bit of recruiting by showcasing his talents.
One of the players I am excited for Mac to work with is Hunter Renfrow. He is stepping in for Keenan Allen, who will also sit out. Renfrow is slowly becoming known to be one of the better route-runners in the league and he is set to become a free agent in 2023. He could be a perfect slot receiver for Bill and oh how nice would it be to steal him from their new head coach, Josh McDaniels.
While on the Subject
Coach, it is hard to see you go. You were a major piece of our success over the years. You were a great play-caller in the big moments and I’m sure ever a better person to all of our players. Best of luck with your new team and of course, congratulations.
Another person I am excited to see work with Mac is coach Mike Vrabel. Vrabel is a player’s coach and naturally has a soft spot for New England. I think he will be a great mentor for Mac. Coach Vrabel is also going to be a free agent in 2023, so who knows maybe he’ll come back around this way someday.
Lastly, Mac will get some work with himself. He will be able to let loose and air it out. That’s what the pro-bowl game is about, isn’t it? Carefree football? He won’t have any other time to do that, so it should be good for him. Release all the tensions of your rookie season.
Mac will also get to participate in the Skills Showdown, specifically the precision passing event. This is something that he may shine in.
