The Masked Singer is returning for season seven premiering on March 9th airing on Fox with a big premiere episode. It’s returning with a new cast of characters and even more crazy twists.
For those who don’t know The Masked Singer is a top-secret singing competition. In which celebrities face off against each other wearing elaborate costumes and full-face masks concealing their identities. The contestants try to throw off the panelists and viewers with clues buried within the show. Therefore, watch carefully or you might miss a key clue. Each week a singer is eliminated and revealed.
Season Seven Preview
The Masked Singer is changing the format up for the new season. Rather than Group A and Group B with wild cards entering each week. The contestants are being divided into three categories or teams known as the Good, the Bad, and the Cuddly. They will go head-to-head each week representing their groups. Last year the contestants only competed in their groups until the finale. This year they are going back to having everyone compete against each other.
There will be at least four wild cards in select episodes to shake up the competition. They will face off against the original contestants at the end of certain episodes. The panelists will vote for their favorite performer of the night with the lowest voter getter going home. If the wild card makes it past the elimination then they join the show in that respective group.
There is also the take-it-off buzzer that may come into play like last year. Where a panelist who is certain of identity can press the button and if right they are the right singer reveals instantly.
New Costumes
The Season Seven costumes are more extravagant, unique, and detailed than years before. During the sneak peek the show revealed ten costumes and the teams they are in. The first group is the Good because of their heroic characters. It features Terrier the white Scottish dog, Frog Prince, and Firefly. Expect to see two more characters join this group at some point.
Then there is the group known as Bad made up of villainous characters like Cyclops, Ram, and Queen Cobra. The Cyclops is the biggest costume in show history standing at ten feet and barely fitting through the door. Ram has been hinted at the most from this bunch in recent previews. There will be more costumes joining the group when the show starts.
Finally, there is the Cuddly group with the cutest huggable characters Space Bunny, Baby Mammoth, Lemur, and Thingamabob. In the sneak peek the Space Bunny gave a special performance where he sounds like a legendary singer and gave a clue about North Carolina. The other three characters we will find out more about in the premiere.
