The funny thing about the internet is that, if you didn’t know any better, you’d think former Alabama basketball star Brandon Miller’s life was over. Unless you were living under a rock, you’re well aware of the chaos surrounding Alabama’s basketball program’s chaotic off-court chaos this past season. If you happened to be under said rock, I’ll give you the short version… if there even really is one.
The Summary
Brandon Miller found himself caught up in his former teammate Darius Miles‘ gun-wielding drama that left a young woman dead at the hands of one of Miles’ childhood friends. The story took a life of its own. Who did what, who caused what, and what exactly happened on a late night in the streets of Tuscaloosa became a mainstay. Our trusty friends at a particular news outlet in Alabama decided then to not only make Miller the murderer but the accessory and the aggressor. As the truth unfolded, the mud was too deep to apologize and backtrack.
Miller became the topic of every conversation. We couldn’t make it five minutes into a basketball game without a recap of events and whether Miller was a horrible person or not. Clay Travis made talking about Miller a personality trait and went to the lengths of falsely telling the world it was Miller’s gun. Twitter experts weighed in with their self-proclaimed legal knowledge. Everybody, except Alabama fans mostly, was ready to burn Alabama Athletics at the stake. Alabama’s Head Coach Nate Oats couldn’t say the right thing. The University’s PR department lived in a nightmare. The season ended, and it all was put on the back burner, until now.
NBA Teams Aren’t Concerned
NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the bomb Tuesday. Woj took the reigns and let the world know that not only are NBA teams not concerned with the drama, they’re impressed. Which is a wild narrative to watch happen in real-time.
Woj on NBA teams' feedback on #Alabama's Brandon Miller: "Not only did they not find anything that they would consider disqualifying to select Brandon Miller, they are finding a young man who they say is mature, focused, whose character and his habits are actually an asset."

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski: “Brandon Miller is very much in play to be the second overall pick in this draft.”

The NBA draft lottery took place on Tuesday night. The Spurs scored the number one spot, and will presumably select French phenom Victor Wembanyama. That leaves the door open for Miller to possibly go to the Charlotte Hornets with the number two overall pick. I guess we can wait and see what the Twitter scout experts say about this one on June 22nd.
