The ingredients for a star NFL player.
If you love the NFL, you are probably aware who the NFL star players are, but you might find yourself wondering what the ingredients are that go into being an NFL star player.
While some may think it is super simple to become an NFL star player, or just simple to play in the NFL, just getting the luck of the draft, it really is not so easy. There is a lot that goes into being a stellar NFL performer, it is not all about hitting the gym and being all buddy-buddy with your teammates, it goes beyond what you see on the field and is a lifestyle choice, with constant thought, cooperation, and psychological ability.
American football is more than just getting that ball to the end zone, and it takes more than it may appear during plays to get it there.
The things that get the ball to the end zone, and secure the touchdown, are the factors that make a superstar NFL player.
So, if you wanted to join the NFL, what qualities would you need?
Let’s take a look at some of the key ingredients that go into NFL stars like Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Khalil Mack, Todd Gurley, and Ezekiel Elliot.
Confidence.
As you can expect, every player needs confidence, if you are feeling anxious or unconfident on the field, then you won’t be making those skilled plays. You need to feel confident about your ability, as they say how you think and feel will have an effect on what you do and the things that happen around you.
Being confident is a key skill required of NFL players, and the stars of the field are always confident in their abilities and their knowledge of the game. They have to feel confident when the ball comes their way, or when they have the ball and face a horde of the opposition barreling towards them.
Confidence is absolutely paramount, and it comes with practice, knowledge and experience.
Passion for the game.
It goes without saying that there is a requirement for passion. You have to be passionate about the game that you are playing, excited about the game ahead, and passionate about working with your teammates.
For football players, this is their job, and having passion for your job always makes you perform better. Not only that, but in this passion is a desire to win, and a desire to overcome your opponents. Whether it is by delivering a solid block, or by shaking off the blocking attempt of an opponent and going on to push through or tackle. A mix of confidence and passion already makes for a great player.
Mastery.
Mastery does not necessarily mean experience. Mastery means study, knowledge, and understanding. Many players, especially quarterbacks will study the opposition, the field space, and the behavior of their opponents before the game, they will analyze the situation they are about to go into and plan for it. This is mastery, taking time outside of game time to study and understand what lies ahead.
Doing this will always result in good things, and you will find all star players are masters of the game, on and off of the field.
Communication.
Every relationship requires communication, so yes, this includes players on the field. For positions that work closely together, such as a quarterback and their receivers, it is important that they have an almost telepathic connection. Getting the ball where it needs to go with skillful communication, so players are exactly where they need to be when they need to be there to secure a touchdown.
Physical ability
Finally, the most obvious skill required is physical ability. These players are running around a lot, and they have to be in peak physical condition to put up with the strains of the game. Trips to the gym and training are essential to maintain the physical strength and agility required for NFL games.
