With the win over the Chiefs yesterday, the Bengals exposed a false narrative that has been destroying the NFL media for a few years.

The excessive amount of Patrick Mahomes‘ talk within the NFL media has been absurd. He has been the “face” of the NFL for the past 4 years. However, he now will have to wait another year before getting another chance at glory.

Although Mahomes has had extreme early success with his statistics and earned an A+ grade using the eye test, his playoff resume starts and ends with one Super Bowl. In the end, Super Bowls are far more important than everything else.

Joe Burrow is in year two of his career and has just beaten the Chiefs on their own field. Marking the second time Mahomes and the Chiefs have lost the AFC Championship game at home.

If any would have told you the Bengals were going to be playing in the Super Bowl this year, no one would have believed you. Not a single one. I was high on Burrow and Chase in fantasy and even predicted Chase might have the best rookie receiving year ever, but I did not think they would be playing in the Super Bowl in August.

Congrats to the Bengals Fans, Who Have Had to Wait for Generations for This Moment

It is hard to be anything but happy for the Bengals & Joe Burrow. They are having an all-time season and now get to play in the biggest game of the year.

Their journey is an important part of the grand scheme of things. Not only did they beat the Chiefs, but they did it on the road as a very young team. If the Bengals can do it, so can everyone else.

The Chiefs are still not a dynasty, although it feels like they’ve already been crowned so. Their window of success has been open for the last four years, now other teams are starting to catch up.

It now seems like the pressure is on for Kansas City. They have had all the credit in the world given to them and have not exactly lived up to it. This was one game that a “dynasty” wins.

Looking Forward

The Chiefs media bandwagon should be a little lighter next season. The Bengals, of course, will see plenty of support going forward after this playoff run. Bills Mafia is still hungrier than ever after that OT loss at Arrowhead. The Patriots already have their next franchise quarterback, and the Steelers and Broncos are too busy fighting for Aaron Rodgers. The Chiefs can sit back and regroup as they look into the next season, taking it one game at a time.

The Chiefs no longer carry the NFL Logo alongside their team. They can just focus on winning football games.

And for everyone else who is tired of the media drilling Patrick Mahomes into your brains, we can relax, for now..
