Read on to find out more about season nine including costumes, format changes, and more.
This show has become a popular weekly event for many families. The Masked Singer is a top-secret singing competition in which celebrities face off against each other. They appear in elaborate costumes to conceal their identities until they are eliminated. Each week the singers perform a song of their choice in their real voice while also providing a clue package to help viewers and panelists make guesses. There are returning features, new costumes, and other exciting changes for the new season.
Season Nine Preview
Season nine is preparing for an exciting season with fun themes like ”ABBA Night.” The show introduced theme nights last season with most eliminations matching the theme of the night. It is a fun addition to the show. This season aside from “ABBA Night” will feature nights dedicated to Sesame Street, Country, New York, 80s, and Superheroes.
Season nine will feature a new twist with the first-ever panelists’ save, in which the panelists can prevent a contestant from being unmasked. The new twists allow the panelists the opportunity to keep a strong contestant in the competition. Although the show will keep the double-elimination format like last season the new twist can help keep the good singers around longer. It is unclear if they can use the save more than once but it will be fun to watch anyway.
Season Nine Preview Costumes
The Masked Singer has also revealed new costumes that feature Axolotl, French Hen, Moose, and Doll. Also, there was a promo that confirmed that California Roll, Jackalope, Gargoyle, Mustang, and Dandelion will compete this season. The early standouts are the French Hen, a brown bird wearing a beret, and the brown Moose with orange antlers. Also, they both have their mouths partly opened as they represent the animal costumes.
Other cute characters are the Axolotl who is a pink amphibian with large eyes and a smile on her cute face. The wackiest one is the Doll which is a handmade blue face and stitched eyes. The character looks straight out of a creepy cartoon. Fans should expect to see more fun and weird costumes as the season begins. Though it is unclear how many contestants will compete this season.
Tune in on February 15th for the season nine opener. This looks to be one of their best seasons yet so you don’t want to miss it. The Masked Singer airs Wednesdays at 8/7 c on Fox or the next day stream on Hulu.
