PFL 2 2024 Regular Season: The Theater At Virgin Hotels; Las Vegas, Nevada:

Five fighters made it look pretty easy in the second week of the regular season for the PFL. All five light heavyweight winners are perfect, picking up six-points each in their stoppages. All coming in the opening rounds. Sadibou Sy befell to an injury, which was followed by a submission before the card ended with three-straight TKO wins.

And the night was capped by the reigning PFL 205-champion, Impa Kasanganay making quick work of former Bellator fighter “EASY” Alex Polizzi. Both engaged from the get-go with Kasanganay getting a quick takedown. Polizzi’s wrestling pressure kept getting stuffed as he tried to get one of his own.

Then Kasanganay’s leather did it’s talking. A crisp right hand stung the 32-year old. And it had him in trouble. Kasanganay started to tee off on him, but instead of just swinging wildly he picked his shots. By the time referee MARC GODDARD stepped in to stop the fight at the 3:29 mark, Polizzi was out on his feet.

Light Heavyweights Are Perfect, Does Any Other Division Match Their Performance

The quick response is probably not. The odds would be stacked against it. And it makes for an interesting start to the season. With a short season format it puts all those who took an “L” behind the eight-ball. Because they now have to jump over all five fighters that picked up six-points. And those are all seriously talented fighters that have the wind at their backs.

Albeit Kasanganay is only back to his winning ways after dropping a decision to Johnny Eblen at middleweight. And while the KILLCLIFF talent does have fast hands, great wrestling defense, to go with a decent ground game it might be tough for him to repeat as champion. Dovletdzhan Yagshimuradov might be the toughest out for the rest of the division. He too has power in both hands and has a very underrated chin.

There is no one in the division that is a real boogie-man. What there is however at 205 here is, is a bunch of fighters that stay composed in tough situations.
