Kyle Korver, who spent last season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Utah Jazz, signed with the Milwaukee Bucks this off-season. And not a week into his tenure with the Bucks, Korver is already paying dividends for them.

On Twitter this week, a recent video surfaced of him and the Bucks franchise player and reigning MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo, shooting three pointers together. Here’s the video of Korver helping Antetokounmpo with his only weakness is his game.

Kyle Korver Will Do Wonders For Giannis Antetokounmpo

Korver helping Antetokounmpo with his perimeter shooting is a huge deal because he’ll do wonders for him. No doubt, he’ll bring veteran leadership and shooting to a Bucks team that’s looking to win a championship next season. But he’s also helping Antetokounmpo with the only weakness in his game, which is bigger than any number he can post on the stat sheet.

We’ve seen Antetokounmpo dominate this season en route to his first MVP Award, leading the Bucks to 60 wins. But the lack of a jump-shot, especially an average one at best, hurt him quite a bit.

Obviously, he won’t shoot the ball like Korver, Stephen Curry, or Kevin Durant from three point range. He doesn’t need to. Antetokounmpo just needs a perimeter jumper that can keep defenses honest. This past season, he shot 25.6% from three point range and Antetokounmpo averaged 2.8 three point attempts per game.

So there’s obviously work that Antetokounmpo has to get done. And it’s not just shooting threes in the gym that will help.

Korver will help him shoot with more confidence, which is the most important thing. If Antetokounmpo can get his three point shooting up to around 30%, that will be a huge plus.

Notes

Korver and Wesley Matthews both signed with the Bucks this summer. They were important signings to make after Milwaukee lost Malcolm Brogdon to the Indiana Pacers.

On Thursday, they also signed former 4th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, Dragan Bender, who definitely needs a fresh start. Things didn’t work out for Bender in Phoenix, which isn’t surprising considering the lack of stability. However, getting to come off the bench for a contender should do wonders for him. Bender is only 21 years of age and he’ll have another opportunity to convince people that he belongs in the NBA.
