“Mama, don’t let your babies grow up to be cowboys.” Here is the Ranch part 7 review.

Netflix has renewed “The Ranch” for Part 7 and 8 this fall and has just recently released Part 7, as the Bennett family deals with more issues, more drama, and more lies. The Ranch Part 7 Review: Who pulled the trigger?

If you’re a fan of The Ranch and have not seen Part 7 on Netflix. I suggest not reading any further, as this might contain spoilers, which will ruin the next 300 minutes of bing-watching.

Part 6 of this series left off with Abby (Elisha Cuthbert) telling Colt (Ashton Kutcher) that she thinks that they should become separated, due to Colt’s continuous lying, most recently about not selling his herd for a large sum of money.

Throughout Part 7, Colt attempts to give Abby her space as he tries to win back her trust. However, due to Abby taking her time. Colt becomes frustrated, resulting in a rather common shouting match between the two on multiple occasions, as Colt feels he isn’t getting enough time with their daughter, Peyton.

With Abby and Peyton living at her parent’s house. Colt resides in his unfinished and unbuilt ranch, where he can catch a single break, as he holds on for dear life, trying to pry his ranch away from Lisa Newman and Newman’s Hill.

The Ranch Season 2

In other storylines, Beau Bennett (Sam Elliott) continues to spend much time with Joanne (Kathy Baker) as the two slowly appear to fall in love.

Mary (Megyn Price) runs off with Colt’s cousin, Luke Matthews (Dax Shephard), as the two share similar grievances towards the Bennett’s at the end of Part 6, with the two running off and getting married in Las Vegas, resulting in Mary overdosing, as she continues her battle with drug abuse.

As Part 7 progresses, Mary’s drug addiction becomes more severe, with Luke trying his best to take her to rehab, while she insists she doesn’t have a problem. Mary then asks Luke for a thousand dollars as she is 6 months overdue on her house rent, where her daughters and grandchildren reside.

Luke gives Mary’s daughter, Heather (Kelli Goss) the money. Having a lack of trust in Mary with her issues, to make sure that it pays for the mortgage. But before Heather can pay for the mortgage, Mary deposits the money and uses it for more drugs (shocker).

Mary’s entire family then gets evicted from their home. As Heather and Luke attempt to find a missing Mary who ran off with the money and Heather’s car. The two would find Mary through the police, as Heather would report her car stolen.

Locked in a jail cell, Heather and Luke tell Mary that they won’t be bailing her out. As a few nights in prison might do her some good at getting clean. This results in Mary lashing out, and calling her ex-husband, Nick (Josh Burrow), who returns after making quite an impact earlier during the series.

The Ranch Part 7 review

Like many of you, Ranch fans know. Nick is blamed heavily for the death of Colt’s brother, Rooster (Danny Masterson) who was killed off in a supposed motorcycle accident, though, nobody was found, as Netflix gives themselves a loophole, in case Masterson returns to the set.

Danny Masterson played the role of Rooster for Parts 1-4, before getting fired from the set, due to sudden rape allegations being brought up in Leah Remini’s “Scientology and The Aftermath“.

With Nick back in the picture. Mary’s drug addiction takes a turn for the worse, as she becomes addicted to one the most deadly drugs on the planet, heroin, resulting in her stealing Luke’s truck for more of the buzz.

Back at Iron River, Beau and Joanne get married. As Colt and Abby’s relationship continues to boil over, resulting in two exchanging divorce papers in Part 7’s final two episodes, as Colt continues to make questionable decisions.

Lisa Newman, Owner of Newman’s Hill, proceeds to build a dam that cuts off the water supply for three ranches, including Colt’s, to gather more water for her herd.

Colt, who without water supply, will ultimately become out of commission, proceeds to blow up the damn, illegally, to bring water back to him and his neighbors’ streams.

Newman discovers that Colt had destroyed the damn with surveillance footage at the scene, giving Colt an ultimatum, of selling the ranch to Newman’s Hill or being locked in prison for breaking the law.

Colt is treated as a hero by mostly everyone in Garrison for his attack on Newman’s Hill (except for Beau, who couldn’t be angrier) and believe that if he stepped up against Newman, that he could win their potential court trial.

With that in mind. Colt tells Lisa that he’s gonna fight for his community and not hand over his ranch, leading to Newman throwing the former quarterback in jail.

With Colt spending the night in Garrison prison. Beau pays Lisa a visit, telling her that he’ll sell her Iron River to drop the charges against Colt.

With Colt now out of prison. He proceeds to stand up to Lisa Newman and Newman’s Hill by joining forces with his other neighbors to sell their herd as a collective unit in a deal with Outback Steakhouse, to spite Newman’s Hill.

With the deal in place. Beau and Joanne (who now has Alzheimer’s disease) as happy as can be for the moment. Colt and Beau seemingly in a good place. Abby gathers the crew together to tell them that Nick is back in town.

Beau tells the crew that the last time he saw Nick. He told him to never step back in this town, with Beau grabbing his shotgun and heading for the door.

With Beau seemingly on his way to kill Rooster’s assumed murderer. Colt and Luke also make a break for Nick’s trailer parked home. With both, Abby and Joanne pleaded them to stay put.

In the final scene of Part 7, Nick returns to his trailer park, where he is greeted inside by an unknown character. Where you can here Nick shouting, “The fuck are you doing here?!” before multiple gunshots are heard from inside the home, as the screen fades to black.

Potential Theories

Beau Shot Nick

The Ranch Part 7 review

The most plausible explanation to this murder mystery is that Beau shot Nick, considering Beau was the only man in the closing scenes seen with a weapon in hand.

Beau killing Nick would make perfect sense. However, expect Netflix to take a shocking twist, as Beau may show up at Nick’s trailer with him already deceased.

Colt Shot Nick

The Ranch Part 7 review

This option would bring the former start quarterback much-needed closure. As Colt had always blamed Nick for his brother, Rooster’s murder.

Colt was seen sneaking out of Iron River before the closing scene. In the route of Nick’s trailer alongside his father, Beau, and cousin, Luke.

However, despite Colt being another plausible culprit. Look for Netflix to outsmart their fans on this one, setting up a major twist.

Mary Shot Nick

The Ranch Part 7 review

This would cause more of a shocking twist. With Mary currently standing beside her ex-husband, Nick, after relapsing on drugs. Most notably, Heroin, before the final episode in Part 7.

Mary shooting Nick gives the addict an escape route. As she is shown fearing her creep ex-husband in the season finale in the local pharmacy when talking to Abby.

Though this is also an option that would work perfectly. The biggest wild card for Netflix relies on a character that has been waiting to return for nearly 3 seasons.

Rooster Returns and Shoots Nick

The Ranch Part 7 review

Ever since his assumed death in Part 4, Jameson “Rooster” Bennett has been the most talked-about character between family members. Always referring to past Rooster stories to have a laugh.

However, despite being killed off the series due to off-camera allegations, causing Danny Masterson’s release. Netflix used a loophole with Masterson. In killing him off in a way where they could potentially bring him back if everything worked itself out.

Rooster was said to have driven off the side of the highway on his motorcycle, however, nobody was ever found. The Bennett ultimately decided that the eldest son was dead, and held a memorial service in his honor.

Though at the moment, Rooster is deceased. There is only a memory at Iron River Ranch, a return from the prodigal son would make. Perfect sense for the story and perfect sense logically, given the circumstances of his storyline death.

Do you want Rooster to return in Part 8? Time will tell if Danny Masterson is able to return. But, for now, we can only speculate who pulled the trigger in the season finale. The Ranch Part 7 Review who pulled the trigger.
