Every year there are a group of fantasy football players who flew up the radar all season but when the playoffs come, they blow up! Below are a list of my Fantasy Football Playoff Sleepers who may be on teams or may also be on waivers that could help you win your playoffs and overall championship.
TEN QB Ryan Tannehill: This may be cheating just a little bit but if you haven’t been watching the Titans recent success then you haven’t been watching Ryan Tannehill just dominate fantasy football. He has averaged no less than 18 fantasy points a game and has scored the third-most fantasy points since becoming the starter in week seven. His three of his next four games, he plays teams who are top 15 in allowing points to the QB position. Plus all three playoff games the Titans are at home too. Tannehill could very much have a 2018 Josh Allen playoff season for us in fantasy. He going to shock the fantasy world by the end of the season.
MIA QB Ryan Fitzpatrick: The Magic Bread is ready to shock us all in the playoffs this year. Fitzpatrick does what he does best and that is throwing the ball downfield and score touchdowns. He is known for being a little reckless with the ball but still can produce fantasy points. He has a very easy playoff games against the Jets, Giants and Bengals whom all are in the top 15 in points allowed. The Dolphins have no run game so expect Fitzpatrick to air the ball downfield against some very poor secondaries. Fitzpatrick has been able to put up three 20 points games this year so he very well could have some of those games during the playoffs. Don’t be surprised if he dominates the playoffs.
OAK RB Jalen Richard: After a breakout season last year in receptions, Jalen Richard has taken a back seat to Josh Jacobs. His production has picked up over the last month as in three of his last four games, he has at least 3 receptions for 40 yards. He is leading the running back in targets and has seen a slight increase in snaps. If Oakland were to fall behind in games then Richard gets most of the passing work over Jacobs. The Raiders’ running backs have an easier schedule going into the playoffs but they will be facing many playoff hopeful teams. These games could be higher scoring forcing the Raiders to throw more. The recent news that Hunter Renfrow will be out for a while, could open up the door for Richard to get more playing with inexperienced at wide receiver. For deeper man leagues, he could be very valuable as you make your playoff run.
WAS RB Derrius Guice: It’s time to see what Guice is really made of now that he is back from injury. In his second game back, he led the running backs in snaps, targets and tie in carries. It seems the older veterans in Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson are slowly losing their role to make room for Guice. The Redskins are going to use Guice to see if he should be part of this team moving forward. As we move into the playoffs Guice should see more playing time and opportunity as they go up against some of the worst vs the run (CAR, GB, NYG). Expect them to use Guice more as they slow give control to rookie QB Haskins. If he still available to you then you have to scoop him up.
JAX WR Dede Westbrook: Westbrook was once a hopeful break out candidate to began the season but after being in and out of the line up all season, folks are forgetting about him. Now that Foles is back as the starter, this should be good for Westbrook. Foles likes to throw to the slot position and threw to Westbrook nine times in week 12. Three of his next four matchups are the top six worst in stopping the wideout position. If the Jaguars want to make a push for the playoffs then they will have to lean on their receiver and Westbrook could have some very productive games coming up. Westbrook’s next four matchups, three for them are in the top 10 in points giving up to the wide receivers.
NYG WR Darius Slayton: Slayton has emerged as a target and deep threat for Daniel Jones. Since week eight he has been a top 20 fantasy wide receiver since becoming more involved in the offense. He could take advantage of his situation as Evan Engram has not played in a month, Sterling Shepard is in and out of the lineup and Golden Tate is in concussion protocol. He also has a favorable schedule playing PHI,MIA & WAS in the playoffs so expect Slayton to be able to take over against these poor secondaries.
CLE TE David Njoku: It has been sad, we haven’t seen the next level of David Njoku as injuries have kept him out all season. Now that he is back on IR, he should be playing in week 14 and in our fantasy playoffs too. In his one game this season, he had four receptions for 37 yards and a touchdown against a tough Titan’s defense. He already has amazing chemistry with Baker Mayfield and he is coming back at the right time as the Browns are heating up right now. He has the easiest schedule for tight ends and with all the weapons around him expect Njoku to get some softer coverage. Make sure Njoku is on your team for your playoff run.
SEA TE Jocab Hollister: Hollister has taken advantage of his opportunity in Seattle. Since his breakout against the Bucs, he has been a top 10 fantasy tight end and is playing the third target role in the high power offense. He continues to see red-zone work so he has the upside of scoring touchdowns. He has the third easiest schedule remaining for tight ends and could be forgotten in coverage with the talent at receiver. Expect Hollister to be a big threat for fantasy teams as playoffs start.
