Sunday night the WWE network will televise their STARRCADE special from the Infinite Energy Center in Georgia. The announced matches are a women’s Fatal Four Way tag match, a Last Man Standing match between Rusev and Lashley, and the Kevin Owens show with Ric Flair. Let those matches/segment sink in and now compare that to what wrestling fans in the 80’s received. Dusty vs Ric, Scaffold matches, I Quit matches, Russian chain matches, hair vs hair matches. Yes these matches were are all on one card, with all major titles being defended in meaningful feuds. STARRCADE was WrestleMania before WrestleMania was created, so why has it been treated as a glorified house show?

I understand that STARRCADE was competition and the WWE go to has to treat at as a second place event but where is the respect for the business. The first time WWE did a STARRCADE special they involved the entire Dusty Rhodes family (Dusty is given credit for creating STARRCADE) and it was a very good show, but now WWEgo is just slapping the name on a house show and letting it fly. Ric Flair was the main event on many STARRCADE shows but he wasn’t the only reason STARRCADE was special. STARRCADE was where you settled your score with your enemy in the most creative, embarrassing, and brutal matches. STARRCADE should be well thought out and give the younger fans the excitement fans from the 80’s cherished.

A friend of mine says when you announce a problem you should give a possible solution so here it goes. Obviously you can’t have the Rhodes family involved, they are busy, so why not this. Dusty Rhodes is documented to having a big impact on several former and current NXT stars. So why not let STARRCADE be an NXT television event on the last Wednesday of December every year.

You have one month to build or carry feuds from Survivor Series Weekend for meaningful matches. The WWE go is all about beating AEW on Wednesday night so why not use the event against them? Put on a television show everyone can watch that is special to so many fans out there.

I hate that this idea goes against Cody and Dustin Rhodes but WWE has the rights to STARRCADE and I’m more concerned with making the event memorable again, not this so called war. Can you imagine the matches HHH could come up with to make NXT STARECADE memorable? If you don’t want to go up against AEW then make it a network special. Who cares just put NXT in front of STARRCADE and people will be excited. The only other suggestion I have is no matter what happens with STARRCADE please only use North Carolina or Georgia as a location.

So WWE let go if your ego, you already did enough to embarrass Dusty Rhodes by making him wear polka dots, and give his creation the respect it deserves by giving STARRCADE to NXT and start making memories for the younger fan.
