Monday Night Raw comes to us tonight live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia!
Roman Reigns is Back!
Get the tissues ready because Roman Reigns kicked off Monday Night Raw tonight and he had some huge news to share with the WWE Universe. Last year, Roman was diagnosed with Leukemia and had to relinquish his Universal Title in the process as he treated his condition. This is his first appearance in a WWE ring since he made the announcement.
Reigns starts out by thanking the fans. He says he misses everything about being in WWE. Roman tells the crowd that this isn’t his yard anymore, it’s ‘our’ yard. Before his announcement, he was scared to share the story with his battle with cancer because he didn’t know how people would react. By the time he got home, the support was overwhelming and he can’t thank everyone enough. All of this gave him a new purpose.Roman said that he will use the WWE platform to raise awareness for cases like his own.
He said when he made his announcement that he was going to swing for the fences. But instead, he hit a home run and he’s now in remission! The Big Dog is back!
Congratulations to Roman Reigns for kicking cancer’s ass! It’s truly his yard now. So this means he’s squashing Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania with two spears and a jackhammer, right?
Aleister Black & Ricochet vs The Revival
The Revival, the Raw Tag Team Champions, did not get a tv entrance. The Revival, the Raw Tag Team Champions, have jobbed to NXT talent two weeks in a row. They look like chumps.
I’m all for showing these NXT talents out on the main roster but when the Revival, one of the best tag teams in the world and the Tag champs look this bad is when I have a problem. The match was good and Black and Ricochet looked great but Raw’s tag team division is a joke.
One day, the Revival will wrestle the Young Bucks and we can all rejoice. Remember this statement.
Becky Lynch Arrested
During a tag match between Ronda Rousey & Natalya vs the Riott Squad, The Man, Becky Lynch arrived through the crowd. The stipulation was that if Lynch showed up again before her suspension was up, she’d be arrested.That’s exactly what happened as Becky was handcuffed and escorted out of the arena by police.
Rousey calls out Vince McMahon but Stephanie McMahon came out instead. Ronda wants the charges to be dropped and for Becky to be put back in the Mania match. Steph said that it’s not that easy and that Becky did this to herself. The fans want this match and so does Ronda but Steph gives her a hard no.
Rousey demands she reinstates her but Steph says no one is bigger than the WWE. She says her title is just a belt and means nothing if she gets to defend it against chosen opponents (Charlotte). Rousey said it’s time to make the right decision and leaves her belt in the ring as she walked away.
This was a strong promo from Rousey and a great way to keep this story going. This truly is the main event of Wrestlemania.
The Shield is Back Together?
Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley and Elias beat down Dean Ambrose after Ambrose and McIntyre competed against each other in a no DQ match. This lead to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns coming out and saving their Shield brother. Roman looked really good out there.
This new faction between Corbin, Lashley and McIntyre has been booked very inconsistently over the past month. Now WWE wants to add Elias? At least give them a scary faction name. The Shield made them look lame tonight.
Speaking of inconsistent factions, the Shield back together, while being a great feel good story, doesn’t add up either. Dean turned on Seth the night Roman made his announcement and tonight the two of them saved Dean. Hopefully this can all be cleared up in the weeks to come as Dean is on limited time in the WWE. This could be their last chance to have the Shield together and if so, WWE needs to get it right.
Batista Ruins Ric Flair’s Birthday
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon came out to invite Ric Flair to the ring for his party. There are cake and balloons in the ring as well. Steph says what is a party without special guests and announces Shawn Michaels, Ricky Steamboat, Kurt Angle, and Sting.
A package is played for Flair and they unveil a custom classic World Heavyweight Championship belt with his name on it.
Cut to Batista backstage at Ric Flair’s dressing room where Batista was dragging Flair by his coat on the ground. Batista looks directly into the camera and asks Triple H if he has his attention yet. Triple H runs backstage to help Flair as officials tend to him and the show cuts to black. What an ending.
It looks like it’ll finally be Triple H vs Batista at Wrestlemania.
This was a very memorable Raw! The Animal returns to challenge Triple H, Becky gets arrested and most importantly, Roman Reigns is back! The Wrestlemania card is starting to take shape and WWE has all the momentum in the world after tonight.
