Who doesn’t love a good underdog? Here is your weekly breakdown of the college football team that you should have confidence in placing your bets on. Update: (5-0)

Clemson vs. Wake Forest (+18)
Things are looking good coming off of a nice pick with Virginia Tech smoking Duke 31-14. Knew Vegas was bonkers giving Duke five in that game. It’s time to ride out another ACC underdog this week as Wake Forest takes on a shaky Clemson team at home. Contradicting my revenge tour methodology, Wake Forest is a scrappy team who is historically known to give the Tigers a good fight. Let’s breakdown the quick stats:
Wake Forest Quick Stats:
- 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games vs. Clemson.
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 overall games vs. Clemson.
- 11-0 ATS after allowing less than 170 passing yards in their previous game.
- Underdog is 4-0 ATS in their last 5 meetings.
Clemson Quick Stats:
- 1-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall.
- 0-4 ATS against teams with a winning record.
- 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games on field turf.
Counter-Stats:
- Tigers are 9-2 ATS after allowing less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game (Lawrence looks like he will be suiting up for this game as well)
- Wake Forest is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall
That kid low-key looks like me to be honest… Now I know that last counter stat might jump out at you considering these are against the spread (ATS) picks rather than straight up. However, the Tigers have struggled even harder this year against inferior opponents when it comes to battling the spread.
This pick is all about taking the underdog. If you noticed, the dog in this matchup has currently 4-0 in their last four meetings. In last week’s matchup, the underdog was 4-1 in their last five meetings and the Hokies handled them with ease. Will Wake win this game straight up? VERY UNLIKELY. Clemson is currently 20-1 in their last 21 games SU and is eyeing another college football playoff berth this season.
Dabo Swinney will look to turn things around this weekend after essentially surviving against a tough Dino Babers’ program last weekend. (23-27) Surprisingly, however, Clemson is actually right behind Wake in points per game this season. So I’m expecting a barn burner in Winston-Salem on Saturday as the Demon Deacons look to spoil Clemson’s playoff hopes. Don’t expect a win though… I am NOT advising that pick.
