This is becoming my new favorite occurrence. Stephen A. Smith saying something completely dumb that could of been avoided by simple research that would take no more than 5 seconds to accomplish. Him mentioning the Panthers as a destination for Le’Veon Bell while they have Christian McCaffrey who had 1,098 yards rushing with 867 receiving is simply fantastic.
What makes it better, other than the fact that the Panthers would never pay Bell due to having a stud at running back who does everything for him, is that Stephen A. doubled down and gave a reason for why it would be smart and that was because the Panthers don’t have any receivers. While that’s true, trying to win a title on a system that apparently is designed to exclusively throw to the backs, which is a bit of a wet dream of mine, probably would get figured out pretty quick. Stephen A. using his hands to explain it by having them come together is the cherry on top.
Add this Stephen A. blunder to the montage that he is forming of completely unresearched and baffling incorrect takes. I wrote a few weeks ago when he said that Dwayne Haskins was a running QB that this was becoming a trend and today’s moment only adds to that. I also said in that blog that Stephen A. works a crazy schedule where he’s seemingly on the air at all times. So, missing the occasional name or stat is easily forgivable. But, this has all happened in a short span and know I’m thinking that he’s doing it on purpose or he’s on the cusp of an Antonio Brown like breakdown.
You have to give him credit for dying with his takes, so I’m sure Stephen A. will keep defending this throughout the day. That’ll be fun.
