Just you know, having those thoughts that any man gets before they head to Vegas for a bachelor party(not mine). Thoughts like; don’t go to hard to fast, pace yourself, make sure you have enough booze in your room, don’t forget to pack the perfect basketball jerseys that let everyone know how savvy I am, you are, and make sure you pack a few pairs of pants because of the dumb dress code Vegas has for its clubs. Normal stuff. Then, a genius idea entered my brain and that is I don’t want but I need Brian Windhorst to turn his back on LeBron James and start backing Zion Williamson.
We all know who Brian Windhorst is, not for his coverage of the league, but because he’s been shadowing LeBron James since James was buying milk in high school. I’m not going to really knock the guy for it, though I can’t recall anyone else who ever hitched their wagon so hard to one athlete like Windhorst has, because financially, it was a very smart thing to do. Being Lebron’s mouthpiece for nearly 20 years has gotten Windhorst access to not just a few more players but an entire league. Not to shabby regardless if it gives me douche chills from time to time.
LeBron’s playing days aren’t over, but his best days are certainly behind him. If I was Windhorst I’d treat this like Bill Belichick treats his team by getting rid of players a year or two before they’re tapped out and leave LeBron for the new young gun that is Zion Williamson. I’m sure LeBron will feel betrayed, and he should, but him being the business man I’m told he is, should understand that this is all business.
Not since LeBron, has their been a phenom that’s been covered and hyped up even when they’re were in high school like Zion has been. You can’t go 5 minuted without hearing some analysts say that Zion is a once in a generation talent and that there hasn’t been anyone like him ever. Same stuff they said about LeBron 18 years ago. Nobody will be covered like Zion will be getting covered once he enters the league, so Windhorst, having the experience in tailing a young, highly coveted and seemingly can’t miss prospect should do everything he could to put himself in the front of the line of guys trying to be the advocate for Zion.
The Lakers are a barnyard explosion right now and much of the negative press stems from LeBron James. Perfect time to abandon ship and get on the side of the future. Perfect time for a little of this…
And a little of this…
And some of this…
Brin Windhorst needs to send LeBron flying into the barber shop window and get on board the Zion train and make that loot. LeBron should grow eyes in the back of his head because a superkick to the face could/should be headed his way. Tell you the truth, I should be preparing my resume to be Zion’s manager. I really feel I can write down everything he does and then tell the masses what he’s done based on what I wrote down. Doesn’t seem that hard.
