Candace Parker made her way back to the court on Thursday night; Parker made her second return from injury this season. She missed the first six games with a hamstring injury. On July 9th, Parker hurt her ankle playing against the Dallas Wings.

Candace returns

The Los Angeles Sparks beat the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday night 76-68, and it marked the return on Candace Parker. In her first game back from injury, Parker scored 16 points in 28 minutes. She shot 5-9 from the field. Parker also added seven rebounds, three steals, and three assists. Candace played well in her return; the Sparks were happy to have her back on the court.

Nneka Ogwumike and Chelsea Gray

Candace Parker had a lot of help from teammates in Thursday nights game. Nneka Ogwumike led the team in scoring with 19 points on 8-15 from the field. Nneka also added 11 rebounds giving her a double-double. Ogwumike is always dependable; she is a player; you can always count on to produce.

Chelsea Gray performed admirably as well. Gray scored 16 points and had 10 assists. Gray is the real playmaker for the Sparks; she makes the players around job more comfortable with her passing skills. Also, Sydney Wiese added three three-pointers to help the Sparks offense.

Kayla McBride had a good game for the Aces. She scored 19 points on 6-13 shooting, with three three-pointers. Liz Cambage struggled to stay on the floor because of early foul trouble. She finished with only nine points. Las Vegas was without star play A’Ja Wilson due to injury

Sparks contenders?

With Parker back, that will put the Sparks back into title contention. Parker with Ogwumike improved three-point shooting will make the Sparks hard to beat in the playoffs. Parker, Ogwumike, and Gray make an excellent big three that would have to be reckoned with. Las Vegas Aces and the Los Angeles Sparks would make for a great Western Conference FInals.
