Monday Night Raw comes to us live tonight, 24 hours removed from SummerSlam, from inside the Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto, Canada!
The Universal Championship
Somehow, for the second time this year, Seth Rollins managed to pull off a huge upset over the now former Universal champion, Brock Lesnar. Despite Rollins injuries, he was able to pick up the victory. For the second time in his career he’s become Universal champion.
Brock Lesnar will not be granted a rematch for his championship, as reported by WWE earlier today. Stone Cold Steve Austin also, will be on Monday Night Raw tonight, live via skype to weigh in on the Universal championship match from last night.
With Paul Heyman speaking out against Lesnar not getting a rematch, it’s likely this feud with Rollins & Lesnar will carry over at least another week.
Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch has been on fire for the past year. She’s lost momentum here and there but after SummerSlam and the match that her and Natalya put on, i’d say the fire’s back. Natalya is more than likely stepping to the back of the line after that match, however.
That means that The Man needs a new challenger. WWE is teasing that we’ll find that out tonight on Monday Night Raw, but that remains to be seen. Since it’s the Raw after SummerSlam, there could possibly be returns tonight. Sasha Banks or Nia Jax would fit in perfectly here.
There’s no real timetable for Jax to return, who’s been out with knee injuries for most of 2019, so take that with a grain of salt. Sasha Banks, however, is more possible the more you think about it. Have her come back as a heel, have The Boss vs The Man and fans will eat it up.
Woman’s Tag Team Title Match
Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross are the definition of fighting champions. After winning the title last week, they successfully defended their titles at SummerSlam, and now have another title defense tonight on Monday Night Raw.
Bliss & Cross defend their titles against the Kabuki Warriors tonight, and there’s a chance they might lose them already. The Kabuki Warriors are made up of Asuka, the woman with the longest winning streak in WWE history. And Kairi Sane, former NXT Woman’s champion and winner of the first ever Mae Young Classic; not to mention they’re managed by Paige.
I could be getting ahead of myself here, but the Kabuki Warriors are as legit as they come. WWE has always been high on Bliss and would probably like to see them keep the belts for a while.
Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler
24 hours removed from being decimated by Goldberg, Dolph Ziggler has the pleasure to take on the Miz on Raw tonight. Ziggler needs to get a win here. Goldberg made him look like he was nothing last night. It doesn’t hurt the Miz to take a loss, as he hasn’t had a notable program in a while.
Ziggler has been in high profile matches ever since he came back. It’s difficult to tell where he’ll go from here but the future looks bright for Dolph.
