The most exciting players to watch this season varies. It all depends who you are asking and their favorite team or a particular player. Let’s run down with the players that we thought were the most exciting to watch this season.
Chiney Ogwumike
This is my personal pick for this season. If you haven’t noticed I am a fan of both sisters. I chose Chiney over Nneka Ogwumike due to the fact Chiney’s energy is unbelievable. Her energy will hype up her teammates, the fans in attendance and the fans watching at home. Chiney will crash the boards day in and day out. She averaged 5.8 total rebounds this season and 3.2 were defensive.
She basically helped the Sparks win last Tuesday night against the Atlanta Dream. Her energy sparked the Sparks and her energy continued in their last home game. The underdog who will prove everyone wrong. Chiney will sacrifice her body for the team to win. She has my vote for the most exciting player this season.
Diamond DeShields
Whitney’s pick
Diamond DeShields has been a pleasure to watch this season. The six-foot-one guard from Tennessee has made the most of her sophomore year. Last week she put up 30 in the OT thriller against the Connecticut Sun. She’s just really having a solid season on both ends of the floor. But she’s shown all season long why she’s an all-star, even bringing home the trophy for 2019 skills challenge.
Honestly, I’m late to Team Diamond, she should have been on my radar from her stellar college career.
DeShields has also been exciting to watch off the court with her game day outfits. At the beginning of the season, she was ranked #10 on the WNBA Sneakerheads list. After She wore the unreleased ‘Amarillo Fear of God 1’on July 21, I have a feeling she’ll be ranked higher going into the 2020 season.
For round one I’ll be rooting loud and proud for DeShields and the Chicago Sky. I hope she showcases her most dynamic being and recruits more fans while moving her team to round two.
Natasha Howard
Lamarr’s pick
The most exciting player i saw this season was Natasha Howard of the Seattle Storm. With point guard Sue Bird out, Howard stepped up and led the Storm to the playoffs. She is a candidate for MVP and was awarded Defensive Player of the Year. In the regular season, Howard averaged 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Also, she averaged 2.1 steals and 1.7 blocks per game.
Natasha Howard is one of the better all-around players in the WNBA; she can score, rebound, and play outstanding defense. I love the intensity she plays with night in and night out. I can not wait to see how she performs in the playoffs.
DeWanna Bonner
Jessica’s pick
One of the most exciting players for me to watch this WNBA season has been DeWanna Bonner. She’s one of my favorite top five players of all time. Whenever she’s on the court, I can just feel the energy’s she’s giving off. I love the way she and BG play together and handle the ball on the court. Bonner is a two-time WNBA All-Star, including in 2018, and made the All-WNBA first team in 2015. Averaging around 17 points per game this year, she’s bound to be the MVP. She definitely knows how to play the game well and she shows it when she’s out on the court. Tonight starts the first game of the playoffs as the Phoenix Mercury faces the Chicago Sky. Let’s hope DeWanna Bonner and Brittney Griner show up and do some serious numbers out on the court.
