Welcome back for another week of Fantasy Hockey – Hidden Gems! We are back to looking under-owned players in Yahoo leagues. There are some players this week that I really like. Make sure you check to see if any of them are available in your leagues.

Forwards

Calle Jarnkrok(16% owned) – Somehow Jarnkrok is only owned in 16% of Yahoo leagues. This is absurd! He has 9 points in 3 games and is continuing to skate on the top line for the Preds. Stop reading this right now, and go add him to your team.

Tyler Johnson(27% owned) – This one also baffles me. Johnson is eligible at all three forward positions and has 9 points in 4 games. If Johnson can keep his time with Stamkos, then Johnson could be a legit threat for 60 points.

Defence

Tony DeAngelo(9% owned) – Another player on this list that is going below people’s radars. He has been playing 18-20 minutes per game for the Rangers, and he has so far put up 8 points so far. Oh, and he is on the top powerplay…not Trouba! He might be a bit of a flash in the pan right now, but he has a pedigree as a former 1st rounder of the Lightning.

Fantasy Hockey Hidden Gems

MacKenzie Weegar(8% owned) – Weegar is currently seeing top-line minutes with Ekblad in Florida, and on top of that, has posted 9 points in that time. The downside with Weegar is that he doesn’t see any powerplay time, but if this point production continues that could quickly change.

The Goalie

Alexandar Georgiev(14% owned) – As you have noticed if you have followed the first few weeks of this column is that the goalies I pick are all players who are backups with the potential to take over the top job. This happens for 2 reasons,

  1. Most starting goalies are owned in 10 team leagues are larger
  2. These are the best goalies to own a piece of.

Why are they great to own you ask? These are the players that you can get your hands on, who have the potential to take the full-time job either when the current star underperforms, or gets injured. In the case of Georgiev, Lundqvist isn’t getting any younger, so he isn’t going to play 65+ games anymore, which means you are likely already going to see 30 starts from Georgiev, and with an injury we could see that number push into the mid 40’s. We see a couple of these guys make a big difference for Fantasy owners each year. Fantasy Hockey – Hidden Gems Yahoo Edition.

Good luck this week everyone! See you next week. Feel free to leave comments, or ask me questions on twitter(@andrewkdewhirst). I want to help you win!
