24-23 Illinois winner. The Illini take down the fourth ranked Badgers. Honestly there is nothing that makes more nervous that a college kicker attempting a game winner. But James McCourt walked up dragging his huge balls across the turf and drilled it right down the middle to win it.
Wisconsin actually moved the ball pretty well all game, Jack Coan threw for 264 yards and Johnathan Taylor had 132 on the ground. But the Illinois defense stepped up in some big situations and forced 4 field goal attempts. For Illinois Bradon Peters was only 9-21 passing, but he made some pretty big when it mattered. His 29 yard touchdown throw to Josh Imatorbhebhe was a huge momentum swing late in the fourth quarter. Then when Jack Coan was intercepted by Tony Adams with three minutes left you could feel the magic in the air.
On the final drive Illinois had a pretty clear game plan, ride the running backs. By the way shout out to Reggie Corbin and Dre Brown they had 150 combined rushing yards against one of the best run defenses in the country. When they were called on to ice the game they drove the Illini right down the field to set up the game winning field goal. I might be bleeding blue and orange right now but is Illinois the second best team in the Big Ten?
