After reading that title, I know what you’re probably thinking. What does she mean by a ‘true’ reign? Well, let me break it down. A ‘true’ reign means holding the title for a significant period of time with successful title defenses. In the past, we’ve seen shorter reigns to transition a title to a new superstar or as part of a storyline. So, who are the women that deserve a ‘true’ reign?
Here are my top 3 choices!
3. Ember Moon
Previous NXT Women’s champions have had singles title reigns on Raw and Smackdown. One of the exceptions to this stat has been Ember Moon. Although we know how incredibly athletic she is, the War Goddess has been an afterthought on the main roster. Since her debut, Ember received opportunities towards title matches in two Money in the Bank matches and the 2019 Royal Rumble. Her only 1-on-1 title match just occurred at this past SummerSlam thanks to Bayley. I hope that WWE takes the time to build the perfect storyline for Ember Moon that leads to her being the champion she deserves to be.
2. Sonya Deville
Being a former MMA fighter, Sonya Deville has shown that she can get down and dirty in any match. The only issue that cripples her chances for a title run is that she’s been tied to Mandy Rose since their debut. Every WWE fan is patiently waiting for WWE to pull the trigger and separate Deville from Rose. Once that happens, Sonya Deville deserves a major push to be a fighting champion like Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. She’s ready for the spotlight!
1. Sasha Banks
I haven’t lost my mind! I know that the Boss is already a 4-time Raw Women’s champion. She’s at the top of my list because Sasha Banks is one of the most talented women in the division today and she hasn’t been given the respect she deserves. Banks’s combined reigns, as recognized by the WWE, only total 80 days and she lost the titles on her very first defense. That should not be the case for one of the trailblazers of the women’s division! The Boss deserves better!
So, do you agree with my list of women that deserve a ‘true’ reign? Who’s missing? Sound off in the comments below.
Until next time, Belly Up fans!
