Incense is burning in the corners of a darkly lit room. As the aroma fills the air, a single light shines in the darkness. A voice is speaking, it says “One should be concentrating on the clues that the universe is dropping for them to take up a quick reaction.”
For everyone listening to the voice, there is confusion. The voice continues, “Divine power is seeking my undivided attention. I had to achieve the tranquility of spiritual maturity through the guidance of the universe.”
“Sir, this is a Wendy’s,” says the voice behind the register to newly signed Portland Trail Blazer, Carmelo Anthony. He pushes send on his Instagram post and then orders the spicy nuggets before leaving.
Subscribing to the Kyrie Irving philosophy of speaking in confusing antecedents, Carmelo Anthony’s NBA return is on a mythological level. Long touted as one who could no longer contribute, or at least no longer willing to subscribe to an idea of putting the needs of the team before the needs of himself, Anthony has found himself in uncharted waters.
Out of the ashes, one will rise
Like the proverbial phoenix, Anthony has risen from the ashes of a failed season with the Oklahoma City Thunder to explore uncharted territory in the Pacific Northwest. Is he ready to accept a lesser role? Only time will tell.
