NFL Celebrations.  About as entertaining as your child waking you up at 3:15am, just to let you know their sock had fallen off.

I’m not trying to be the “get off my lawn” guy, but seriously, can we PLEASE go back to them being illegal?  And I’m a hypocrite because when they NFL (No Fun League) initially made any celebration to be penalized, I wanted them back as soon as they were gone.

Now, I’m completely over this.

And what happened to smiling when you did something good?  Nowadays its all about pounding your chest, or miming like you’re eating a bowl of Corn Pops, while you scowl off in the distance.  No one smiles anymore!

When you’re losing and sack a quarterback, and then do a dance.

WHY?

When you’re winning and have to ‘flex’, after a routine bubble pass only nets two yards.

WHY?

When you follow your teammates to the opposing end zone, and pose for a picture, like you’re part of a high school prom photo.

NFL Celebrations

WHY?

The simple fact is…you need to calm down!

We’re talking about winning and losing a game.

ONE… Game!

Not life ending stuff. Not life starting stuff.

We need our athletes to be the super heroes they want to be.

The ones we want them to be.

Or maybe, we need them to be.

But not me…

And I apologize, I didn’t mean “need”. I meant “want”.

HOLY SHIT WHY?

I have grown tired of the culture in this league.

When you fictionally perform CPR on your teammate, to bring them back to “life”, as an act of ‘awesomeness’?

Please recognize, there are people who have actually seen this action placed on their loved ones, to keep them here.

I may be over-reacting a bit there – a very close friend of my family recently passed – and I was sitting there, on Thanksgiving, wondering how their family is doing with that empty seat at their table.  And then this nobody linebacker pretending to bring his “dead” teammate back to life.

Today, there is more that I dislike about the NFL, than I like.  Can we please put our choreographed dances away and get back to playing the game?

Please and thank you.
