Hey Belly Up fans! It’s your girl, Kat AKA @TxSportsQueen! Online rumors recently flooded Twitter as to who the potential winner will be for the Women’s Royal Rumble match. As of now, Ronda Rousey (if she returns) and Shayna Baszler (if Rousey’s still out) lead the pack as the heavy favorites. Whoever wins will take on Becky Lynch at WrestleMania for the Raw Women’s Championship. If this pans out, the focus will be on the “biggest names” instead of the biggest story. With that being said, for this installment of The Queen’s Take – Sasha deserves to win!
I won’t lie! I’m a major Sasha fan and believe that she deserves a SOLID title reign! Her last taste of individual gold dates back to SummerSlam 2017 when she won her fourth Raw Women’s Championship. Sadly, she lost it a week later!
However, as a writer, I love to focus on the overall story.
Case in point!
Every since Sasha’s return and Bayley’s turn to the dark side, the two superstars seem inseparable! Being drafted to SmackDown helped them stick together as they took over the women’s division on Friday nights. We all know that the fairy tale must come to an end at some point! What better place to start their demise than the Rumble!
Here’s how I would play it out:
- Sasha wins the Rumble and contemplates for a few weeks who she’s going to face.
- She tells Bayley of her plan to string Becky along and Bayley starts getting paranoid in the meantime.
- Sasha and Bayley finds themselves in a tag match at the next pay-per-view. Towards the end of the match, Bayley turns on Sasha and leaves her stranded.
- During the next SmackDown, Sasha gets even with Bayley and declares that she will face Bayley at WrestleMania.
If the current rumors play out, Ronda would just be a repeat of last year (only reverse the scenarios). As for Shayna, how fair is it for someone to get a monumental win on the main stage when there have been women in the back busting their asses just to get a spot on the card? Shayna needs to wait her turn!!
