Ladies’ Night

With the winner of the Royal Rumble receiving a World Championship match at WrestleMania, the event seemed more suitable for men. Chyna didn’t agree with that because in 1999, she became the first woman to enter the Royal Rumble match. She had so much fun the first time and decided to enter the next year as well. Beth Phoenix and Karma added on to this history with their entries into the Royal Rumble match in 2010 and 2012.

2018 changed everything for the women when they earned their own Royal Rumble match! The Women’s Royal Rumble winner would also receive a championship opportunity at WrestleMania. Nia Jax thought she would double down on her chances in 2019. She became the first woman to enter both the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble match in the same night.

I’ll just say this! Never underestimate a woman when it comes to the Royal Rumble! You’ll never know what’s going to happen!

Flair’s Golden Night

Because the WWF World Heavyweight Championship had been vacated in December 1991, the stakes for the 1992 Royal Rumble match were raised even more. For the first time ever, the Rumble match winner would be crowned the new champion!

Ric Flair drew the unfortunate spot of number 3 which gave him even tougher odds to win. The final two came down to Flair and Sid Justice. With the help of Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair prevailed! He won the 1992 Royal Rumble and took home the best prize of all – The WWF World Heavyweight Championship!

Stone Cole Hits The Trifecta

The Texas Rattlesnake went into the 2001 Royal Rumble match as a two-time winner. Nobody had ever won three Rumble matches in the event’s history. You could always count on Stone Cold to shake things up!

He entered the match late at number 27. After Kane eliminated The Rock, he stood as the only man in Austin’s way to a third win. In the end, Stone Cold Steve Austin eliminated Kane to win the 2001 Royal Rumble match. He still holds the record for being the only superstar to win three Royal Rumble matches!

That’s all for this installment of ‘OMG’ Royal Rumble Moments III – History Made! Enjoy the Rumble tonight as we start the road to WrestleMania!

Until next time, Belly Up fans!
