Though the Dolphins have about eleventy billion dollars in cap money, I didn’t foresee the Dolphins keeping former pro-bowl safety Reshad Jones past this off-season. I actually didn’t think Jones was going to last the Dolphin’s purge of talent at the beginning of the season.
Dolphins are releasing two-time Pro Bowl safety Reshad Jones, per source. The move will become official March 18. His release will free up $5.3 million against the Dolphins’ salary cap.

Jones is a 32-year-old safety who is coming off a year where he only played in four games. The writing was on the wall as soon as Flores and Grier started gutting the whole team of young talent. There wasn’t a universe that existed that he’d still be on the 2020 roster.
I’ll always appreciate what Reshad Jones did for the Dolphins. When he was on the field, Jones was a difference-maker. He had a ball-hawking mentality mixed with an old-school approach when it comes to the position. He brought the pain when he would run downhill, but was never considered a “dirty” player.
One of the cooler things that I always loved about Reshad’s game was that he blitzed with such force. He had 10.5 sacks and a ton of QB hits. It always seemed that every time he crept to the LOS, he got home on the QB. And when he did, he brought a furious anger not often seen.
Since he was drafted in the fifth round out of Georgia, Reshad Jones was the leader of the secondary and gave maximum effort every time he stepped on the field. You know, except for that one time he walked off the field. To me, that was pretty unforgivable. Regardless of how much of a clown Adam Gase and Matt Burke were, you can’t take yourself out and call yourself a professional. Time heals all wounds and since I knew Jones would be gone, eventually, I got over it.
We’ll always remember the good times Reshad Jones brought. Hope he lands somewhere, not in the AFC East, and still is able to show people that they’re gonna learn today. Here’s GM Chris Grier sending a parting shot;
