This morning, ESPN writer Marcel Louis-Jacques introduced us to the “Can You Diggs It?” burger. Stack Burger in Lackawanna, NY. now offers this burger for $19.99 asthe latest food creation named after an athlete The monstrous four-patty creation is a tribute to Stefon Diggs, the wide receiver acquired by the Bills on March 16.
Athletes have had candy bars, sandwiches, beverages, and cereal named after them.
As a bit of a foodie myself, this got me thinking: what are some food creation tributes to professional athletes that I’d like to see?
The Bryce Harper Hot Dog
Originally served in DC, the Bryce Harper Hot Dog relocated to Citizens Bank Ballpark in 2019. The food creation is a foot-long frankfurter that includes ketchup, mustard, onions, meat sauce, and Cheese-Whiz. This ballpark treat is like Harper in the regular season; it’s fun at first. However, it’s indigestion-inducing and underwhelming towards the end. Served with a decaf iced tea or ice water.
The Tom Brady GOAT Burger
Tom Brady has a very peculiar diet. Why not make his diet into a burger? This burger will make its debut in Tampa this season and it features a six-ounce goat burger. Included with the burger is avocado, sprouts, lettuce, cucumbers, apple slices, orange slices, toasted bananas, and one slice of bacon. All of this goes on a gluten-free, non-GMO bun. Served with a 20-ounce glass of the tears of your closest division rival.
The Steph Curry Neapolitan
Everything is good in threes, right? This food item is exclusive to the Bay Area of San Francisco. This food creation is a tribute to Steph Curry, one of the best ballers in the NBA. This trifecta of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry is in gelato form with a little bit of curry for some spice. Oracle Arena will serve this dessert to you from half-court in a gold-colored cup. Although it was in limited supply this season, the Golden State Warriors have promise to serve plenty in 2020-2021.
The Tom Wilson Cold Brew
Washington, DC is the home of American politics and the Capitals. Tom Wilson is one of the NHL’s most notorious tough guys (or cheap shot artists depending on who you talk to). Yet Wilson is not the only thing that will blindside you at the Capital One Center. Wilson is a coffee connoisseur of sorts according to the Washington Post. You can get his cold brew with cream and sugar or you can take it black. However you take your coffee, it packs quite a punch.
