Hey, Belly Up fans! It’s your girl, Kat AKA @TXSportsQueen! For this installment of The Queen’s Take – It’s Time For Unity!
Some referred to Wednesday, April 15, 2020, as ‘Black Wednesday.’ Reports surfaced earlier in the day that WWE would have to make massive cuts due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Within the hour, news traveled on social media of talent being released. By the end of the day, WWE confirmed the release or furlough of more than 20 superstars, 10 producers, 3 coaches, 2 announcers, and 3 additional employees. We’ll have to wait and see if there are more to come.
Thank you Seth for the inspiration
While others gave tributes and praise to those who’d been released, others on social media started the blame game. Why did this happen? How did this happen? Who’s responsible? Was it WWE as a whole or just Vince McMahon?
One moment that stuck out to me came from an Instagram video from Seth Rollins. Whether you love or hate his character on camera, he made some valid points that inspired me to write this article!
We are all facing unprecedented obstacles in our lives and have looked to wrestling for an escape. They are now the ones who are suffering because of the pandemic. As the Wrestling Community, we should be uniting together and making sure that we do what we can. It can be just a few kind words on social media, buying merchandise online or tuning in each week to the shows we love. Even with empty arenas, the superstars put their best out there for us and we should still show the same love back. Not just towards the superstars but to each other as well!
That’s all for this installment of The Queen’s Take – It’s Time For Unity! Let’s keep the peace because these hard times are not going to last forever!
Be sure to follow us at @BellyUpWrestlin and @BUWQueens to see what we’re up to next!
Until next time, Belly Up fans!
Your queen has spoken!
