The Masked Singer Semifinals were this week and there are only five singers left in the competition. It has become a cutthroat competition when it comes to performances and juicy clues. Another masked singer was revealed in the quest to the finals, here is a recap of the semifinals episode.
Semifinals Performances
The Night Angel
The Night Angel established herself as a contender for the finals with her performance of “Last Dance”. She showed her vocal range and looks comfortable on the stage. Some clues included lipstick, red light bulb, and a ski mask. The identity of the Night Angel is confusing based on the clues but the judges could only come up with Alicia Keys but social media feels that it could Kandi Buress.
Rhino
In his rendition of “You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feeling” the Rhino sang with such sincerity and emotion. He has a nice voice but tends to sing a lot of slower ballads. It’s getting into the finals so each contest needs to show their range and stage presence. The Rhino’s clues were that he had three kids, pink ballet slippers and a sailor hat. There were guesses of Jason Aldean and Trace Atkins.
Contenders
Frog
The Frog keeps the crowd going with his version 1990s hip hop throwbacks and a lot of energy. This is the farthest a hip- hop singer has gone on the Masked Singer. The clues were that he drives a fast car, a little frog, three loaves of French bread, and a model of a private jet. None of those clues make sense but it led the judges to either Bow Wow or Sir Mix a Lot.
Turtle
The Turtle is a definite contender especially after his performance of “Fix You”. His voice has this way of bringing the emotion out of those who are watching. His clue package included poker chips, a gray jeep, and the year 1999. Jesse McCartney and AJ McLean from the Backstreet Boys are who the judges thought it could be. On social media, a popular guess is Jordan Knight because the voice does sound like him at times and some of the clues do fit.
Kitty
The Kitty is talented with a big voice and was considered a contender from the beginning. Her performance this week may not have been enough as we are finding out the competition is more than just being able to sing. The clues included a hot air balloon, rainbow, and references to travel. She had the judges confused this week, but they thought she could be Vanessa Hudgens because she sounds like a professional singer.
Semifinals Reveal
The Kitty was revealed to be recording artist Jackie Evancho in the semifinals. She is a young singer who has won many awards in the past and had everyone fooled this entire time. The magic of this show is that it could be anyone behind the mask. It’s down to the final four so keep watching to see who will be revealed next because the competition is getting stiff.
It will probably come down to the Turtle, Frog, and The Night Angel in the championship. They each have good performances week to week. Tune in to find out who will be in the championship and who will be unmasked.
