There is no doubt that Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players who ever lived. His playing is solely responsible for the surge in popularity of the NBA back in the 80s and the 90s. His insane ability to jump through the roof while slamming it down had earned him titles like “His Airness” and “Air Jordan.” All of this while playing on the Chicago Bulls helped them win six championships.
The NBA became a worldwide phenomenon because of Michael Jordan. Along with that, the Chicago Bulls became a beloved NBA team with lots of people betting on them during most games. In Las Vegas sports betting casinos, Chicago Bulls were always the favorite. While Las Vegas does not have its own NBA team, sports are still huge there as described in this article. Michael Jordan retired in 1999 and now owns the Charlotte Hornets. As one of the greatest in the business, he’s had a lot of magical moments in his career. Here are some of them.
Space Jam – The Movie
Michael Jordan made a foray into Hollywood with the movie Space Jam and guess who his co-stars were? It was the cartoon characters from Looney Tunes – Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. In the movie, a bunch of aliens come to earth to steal talent from some NBA players and also enslave the cartoon characters. As you can imagine, Michael Jordan comes to the rescue.
The “Flu” Game
What do you do when you get the flu? Stay in bed, take medicine and get some sleep? Not Michael Jordan. Even with the flu (or food poisoning), Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to a thrilling 90-88 win against Utah Jazz before collapsing.
The Greatest Shot
Every basketball fan has to agree that Michael Jordan’s shot over Craig Ehlo has got to be one of the greatest ever. MJ had 25 when he played in a stellar match up against the Cavaliers and it was a crucial game, but his super shot took the Bulls into the semifinals.
The Last Shot
The game against the Utah Jazz in 1998 was supposed to be MJ’s final one. What an incredible night that turned out to be. Michael Jordan was going at it against Bryon Russell and managed to dodge him while gently pushing off and took the opportunity to steal a point that would win him his last title. It’s no surprise that recently a pair of game worn Air Jordan’s sold for a record price of $560,000 at auction.
Against the Celtics
Back in 1986, the Boston Celtics were considered to be on top of their game in the NBA. But then Michael Jordan happened. In about 2.5 hours, Jordan made 63 points which resulted in one of the greatest upsets in the history of the NBA. This record remains unbroken.
There are more wonderful moments of Michael Jordan that should be up there like his return to the game at the age of 40 and still scoring 43 points against New Jersey Nets. Most of these moments are available to watch on YouTube.
