After witnessing Cristiano Ronaldo score a hat-trick during Manchester United vs. Tottenham Hotspur, Tom Brady suddenly announced his return to the NFL. Coincidence? Probably. But who knows…
Cristiano Ronaldo Puts on World-Class Performance in Front of Brady
Saturday saw a massive Premier League fixture for Manchester United, as they took on Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford. The two clubs are fighting for places in the top four, and a win Saturday was crucial for both. In a hot fought contest, it was United to claim the three points, and thanks to their 37 year old striker, Cristiano Ronaldo.
One of, if not, the greatest player to ever play the game, Ronaldo proved his worth as he scored all three of United’s goals to win them the match 3-2. It was five-star entertainment, and there was a certain someone watching from the stands.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was in attendance that evening and was able to witness a signature CR7 display before his very eyes.
Having retired from the NFL back in January, Brady’s days of performing similar miracles just on a football field were supposedly over. However, just the following day Brady announced he was coming back to continue taking snaps for Tampa Bay.
What Did the Two GOATs Talk About?
In a meeting of two sporting titans, Ronaldo and Brady had the chance to chat after the match. Many online are speculating that watching CR7 tear it up in Manchester influenced Brady to come out of retirement. Video captured of the two saw Ronaldo gifting his shirt to Brady’s kids, before asking Brady if he was finished.

This was an early hint that a return was on the cards, as TB12 hesitated and mumbled something inaudible in response. However, was his decision to run it back largely a result of seeing 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo wipe out Spurs?
It’s a conspiracy that many fans are discussing, as the timing of Brady’s announcement comes with suspicious timing. Users on Twitter are having a lot of fun with this idea. Was Ronaldo’s greatness enough to pull Brady back into the mix?

Coincidence?
In reality, this was more than likely just a coincidence. Watching Ronaldo’s performance likely didn’t hurt Brady’s decision to return, but this has likely been an announcement that TB12 has been mulling over since he retired. It’s a bit of a stretch to say that this one experience alone, as amazing as it was, was the ultimate decider that made Brady pull an Uno reverse card on his retirement. However, the CR7 fan within me still likes to believe this is all canon, and that one GOAT influenced another to keep going.
Regardless, it was still amazing to see two sporting giants meet together. Both legends will continue to compete at the highest level, and that alone is a gift in and of itself. Love them or hate them, the greatness of both Cristiano Ronaldo and Tom Brady is undeniable.
