Lakers fans knew this game was going to be special. Their star player, LeBron James, returned to his hometown as his team faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Both teams were going in opposite directions. Los Angeles was coming off a loss to the Washington Wizards, while the Cavaliers got a win against the Pistons on Saturday.
The last time they met, LA got the win at home 113-101. They were looking to replicate their performance once more.
When a player faces off against their former team, they tend to have a standout performance. It was no different for the man they call the King.
LeBron James finished the game with 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists as the Purple & Gold get the win over the Cavs. He played 41 minutes, but he had his way against his hometown team all night.

Even at 37, he’s got a bounce in his legs.
Russell Westbrook continues to show signs of his old self, as he finished with 20 points and 11 assists. D.J Augustin led the team off the bench with 20 points.
As for the Cavaliers, Darius Garland led the way with 29 points and a whopping 16 assists. Kevin Love finished with eight points and a facial from his former teammate LeBron.
The Lakers improve to 31-41 and pick up their 11th win on the road.
My Thoughts
The King has done it again. To come back home and get a triple-double in front of your hometown? That’s why he wears the crown.
Props to Frank Vogel for actually starting Dwight Howard in this game. Maybe he’s starting to realize a small ball lineup won’t work against a team with size.
Recent acquisition D.J Augustin showed he can create his own shot. No shots were missed, as he went 7-7 and made all six of his three-pointers. Stanley Johnson also stood out as he acquired three steals to go along with his 12 points.
Statistically, the Lakers were dominant against the Cavaliers. They had a better field goal percentage, outrebounded their opponent, and scored 64 points in the paint compared to the Cavs’ 52.
Also, did I mention Russell Westbrook had another game where he made multiple three-pointers? He’s been showing signs of his old self recently, which is a great sign for Lakers fans. He’s settling into that number two option besides LeBron.
It was a great team performance all-around.
Also, Darius Garland is going to be one special player. Props to the Cavaliers scouting department.
Player of the Game
LeBron James: 38 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists. This is now his third straight 30+ point game.
