Overall record against the spread for the season: 32-18

Last week was a dud for this column, although we kept our streak of consecutive non-losing weeks going with a 5-5 record. I cannot stand not making my readers money. Even more, I do not like not making myself money either.

Let’s recap what went wrong, and what went right last week:

What Went Wrong

  • Virginia Tech apparently did not like losing to terrible Old Dominion, and did not care that their starting QB was out for the game against solid and ranked Duke. They beat their ass.
  • Hawaii forgot it was playing San Jose St for 3 quarters. They waited until the 4th quarter to get it in gear, and the ass beating they put on in the 4th was a little too late.
  • Florida and Miss St decided early in the game, that they were going to slow things down and grind it out. Hardly the uptempo game that I envisioned it would be.
  • BYU came back to Earth, and Washington dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides. That 17 point spread I thought would be enough against a slow and pedestrian Washington offense, turned out to be a trap for me.
  • I thought that BGSU could keep a struggling and pathetically inept Georgia Tech team to within 4 TD, but apparently that is too much to ask for this piss poor BGSU squad. It is so difficult to bet the MAC conference, I swear.

What Went Right

  • Syracuse did exactly what I thought they would – lose a very close game to Clemson. I am not particularly high on Clemson, but this particular bet was more on Syracuse being really gritty and offensively talented this year, than my disbelief in Clemson being a top team this year. This bet at Syracuse +25 was easy money. It should have been my lock of the week honestly.
  • Texas is a turd on offense still, I do not care what anybody says. Kansas State is tough to play on the road, and they have a decent gritty defense. I thought this game would fall well below the O/U, and that is exactly what happened.
  • Army was just coming off an OT game with Oklahoma. They beat a pretty solid, better than Buffalo, Hawaii team. How Army was a 7.5 point underdog to Buffalo is beyond me. I never trust MAC teams against tough out of conference competition, and again this was easy money.
  • Oklahoma State is Oklahoma State, and Kansas is Kansas. I do not care how bad Kansas beat the shit out of lowly Rutgers. Or whatever other turd they beat. Oklahoma State, even coming off a beat down at the hands of Texas Tech, was still going to cover the spread of 17 against Kansas. Be real.
  • Oregon should have beat the breaks off of Stanford, and Cal has a mediocre to poor offense currently. I did not think that Oregon -2 was even remotely close to how this game looked on paper. This was an easy bet, and could have easily been my lock of the week as well.

Now that our recap of our worst week is over, lets look to the future, where we are going 10-0 this week! We are going to make some serious money this week people. I have a bunch of locks to share with you, and I believe this is going to be our best week yet! So here we go!
