SmackDown comes to us live tonight from inside the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon!
Kofi Answers Samoa Joe’s Attack
In the span of 24 hours, WWE champion Kofi Kingston has defeated Dolph Ziggler, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. He’s defended his title and came out on top every time. If there was ever a fighting champion, he is it.
Kofi said he didn’t need his New Day brothers ringside with him last night, and it ended up costing him. Not the title, but a beat down from none other than Samoa Joe. Joe is a great choice for Kofi’s next challenger. Joe is just coming off a less than stellar run as United States champion, but capped it off with a great match with Ricochet at Stomping Grounds.
Kofi looks to respond tonight on SmackDown. It will be interesting to see if Kofi is alone or not, due to Big E & Woods potentially feuding with Rowan & Bryan for the tag team titles, as hinted at last night. Kofi says that he can keep his WWE title without the help of New Day, but judging by last night, that may not be the case.
The WWE title picture looks bright and this is a feud I can’t wait to see play out.
Who’s Next For Bayley?
After defeating Alexa Bliss at Stomping Grounds, Bayley was interviewed backstage and called out everyone on the SmackDown woman’s roster.
This is a great way to get different people on the show in a big spot. People like Liv Morgan, Ember Moon, Asuka, and Kairi Sane all deserve some time on screen. Whether it be a five way number one contenders match, or any other way to get everyone on the show, i’m all for it; as long as it’s well put together.
Basically what i’m saying is, everyone but Charlotte Flair, for now.
SmackDown Tag Team Titles
As mentioned earlier, New Day look to be the next challengers for the SmackDown tag team titles. Last night, New Day & the Usos teamed up to face the Revival and Rowan & Bryan. Rowan & Bryan were the first team to be eliminated and were pinned by the New Day. Pro Wrestling 101 says that you get a title shot after doing that.
Bryan & Rowan have had a solid reign with the Smackdown tag team titles. New Day are on fire right now and have been since before WrestleMania. It’s only right that New Day hold those tag titles for a 7th time, sooner than later.
Shane-O-Mac-Intyre Respond to the Undertaker
Surprising everyone last night, the Undertaker made his return by attacking Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre to help Roman Reigns. This is fantastic on so many levels.
No one knew Undertaker was there. It was a genuine surprise and that doesn’t come too often anymore in pro wrestling. Only a couple of weeks removed from his match with Goldberg, the Deadman is back.
Here’s a story from last night. I was watching Raw live with a buddy. He’s not a fan but watches it while he’s over at my house so I fill him in on what’s happening. He hates Shane McMahon, but his favorite is the Undertaker. He hates McMahon so much, he leaves and goes home after he comes out, every week. This week, Shane came out, I bid my buddy ado, and watched the rest of the segment. I called him when Undertaker came out and he about sh*t a brick. He told me he watched the rest of the show by himself and loved the main event.
The moral of that story is that because of Shane McMahon getting beat down by his all time favorite, WWE just gained a new fan. It’s story telling at it’s finest and it gained WWE a new fan. The heel got what was coming to him and the baby face looks great afterwards.
While this means even more Shane McMahon on our screens going forward, this was a great moment. WWE has to do something big with this tonight, and it needs to end with Shane getting beat down once again.
