The 2019 WNBA season was incredible not only to watch and write about but admire the amazing women/players. So many teams and players to cheer on that is impossible to choose just one but my favorite WNBA player this season is Chiney Ogwumike for so many reasons. Chiney has many incredible attributes to her game and personality its impossible not to like her. From playing with her sister Nneka to watching her on ESPN to her funny social media persona.
ESPN Epic Moments
Here is just one example of how funny and awesome Chiney is; there’s never a dull moment. She can do it all in heels and a dress haha. If you want a laugh or need something to brighten up your day please do yourself a favor and follow Chiney on Twitter and Instagram. Guaranteed she will make your day better. What I admire the most about Chiney is her willingness to make any moment better and have a positive outlook wherever she makes an appearance.

Another epic Chiney moment. The fans had a lot to say about this. Check it out for yourself. One of the reasons why Chiney is my favorite WNBA player this season.

New Team
The Los Angeles Sparks had an incredible year despite losing in the playoffs and in a dramatic fashion. The Fisher and Parker debacle. The fans will never know what truly happened but that is in the past. Now let’s reflect on the incredible year Chiney had as a member of the Sparks. She finished the season with 9 points per game, 5.8 total rebounds, 21.8 minutes per game, and 49 percent from the field. Yes, her numbers went down from the previous year with the Connecticut Sun but she helped the Sparks with rebounds and steals. Chiney did the little things that matter to help her team win.
I still think she is an underrated player. Many fans beg to differ but she does the dirty work and the things that not many players are willing to do. She hustles and sacrifices her body for the team. She didn’t have her best performance offensively as a Spark, however, she made an impact on the team. This was a new system, new coach and new teammates she had to get accustomed to. It takes some time to get used to a new system and coach and that is fine.
One thing is for sure she got to play alongside her sister. How many can say that? Say that they played with their siblings on the same team. That is one of the reasons it was so much fun to watch the Sparks this year. To witness such incredible chemistry with Nneka and Chiney playing together on the court. They compliment each other. Many reasons to say why she was my favorite player this season. I can’t wait to see her play next year and see her improvements on the floor.
