I will be the first to admit, I wasn’t into All Elite Wrestling, and never watched it all the way through. I tuned in only to watch Jon Moxley, Cody, and Britt Baker, if they had matches. However, that changed when I attended the show live in Atlanta, Georgia on Feb 19th. I had the opportunity to be part of the press and represent Belly Up Sports. It was a first time for me as a press, but man was it great! Let’s take a look at AEW(All Elite Wrestling) on the inside.
On the Inside: LIVE!
I went to the event not knowing what to except. I watched the matches closely, and found new wrestlers that caught my interest. Instantly, I fell in love with Kris Stratlander, Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and Darby Allin. I even remembered how it felt to see Dustin Rhodes(Goldust) in the ring again. Even Orange Cassidy made me laugh. I also admit it was nice to see Chris Jericho, and Jake Hager(Jack Swagger) as well. It was like a childhood memory, all coming back to me at once.
Dedication and Heart
The wrestlers have heart and dedication in the ring. They built the momentum into the action, and cheered on with the fans. Being part of the crowd with the AEW fans felt like home. It felt more like home, then you can ever imagine. AEW gives you new hope and life as a wrestling fan. I was able to meet a lot other people from the press; and share our thoughts. One gentleman said he gave up on wrestling when his legend Roddy Piper died, never thought he would feel alive again.
Then that’s when All Elite Wrestling happened. There is dedication and heart from each and everyone in the stands and the company. Nyla Rose, the current All Elite Wrestling Women’s Champion, even shows courage through out the entire thing that has been going on in social media. If it felt like home to me, I know it feels like home to them.
History Made: Steel Cage
History was made in Atlanta, GA and I witnessed it LIVE! AEW had their first ever steel cage match. Not to mention, somebody that I have always loved as a wrestler was part of it. It was an honor to see The American Nightmare “Cody Rhodes” be part of this history making moment. There was no escaping the cage, but by only submission and pin fall. With the cheering of the crowd in Cody’s hometown, and seeing him jump off the cage and get the pin; and the win, was AMAZING!! It was just greatest feeling of being on the inside of it all.
Unscripted Violence
As we all know Jon Moxley fka Dean Ambrose has always had the crazy lunatic side to him, even in other brands. It was great to see one of my all time favorites in the squared circle again; where he could be himself. Moxley was able to release the unscripted violence in the ring, and keep the fans entertained. I enjoyed being near him, when he came down the stairs, for his entrance. It sent goosebumps down my spine. It brought back memories, when I met him awhile back as Ambrose. I could see he had heart and was enjoying what he likes most. Wrestling and starting chaos!
A Kingdom Built
A kingdom was built with All Elite Wrestling. As of one of the executive Vice President Cody Runnels aka Cody is home. He helped build a kingdom that he wrestles in. A place where he can feel alive again. He is in a place again where he can do his favorite thing and feel alive with the fans! Cody made history in a steel cage in Atlanta, and he will be part of many more history moments to come. One of the greatest wrestler of all time is looking down at his son, and could not be more proud of him. R.I.P. Dusty Rhodes, you are truly missed in the wrestling world.
Cody is a hero in many so cases. A hero to the fans and the wrestlers that gets a second chance, at what they love to do. As a fan of Cody, this a tribute to you and your father. You are home, you are shining bright. Welcome home Cody, and welcome to your kingdom. All Elite Wrestling has the wrestling fans around the world with full attention. You now have my attention! Let’s keep building this kingdom together. Take a look on the inside, I did!
