Hey, Belly Up family! It’s your girl, Kat AKA @TXSportsQueen! It’s no secret that chaos has consumed the country and the sports world due to the Coronavirus! While keeping everyone’s health in mind, WWE lived up to the mantra this week that “The show must go on!” For this installment of The Queen’s Take – Thank you, WWE!
WWE decided to move Friday Night SmackDown and the next Monday Night Raw to the Performance Center in Orlando. Even with no fans in attendance this past Friday, the superstars still showed out to entertain the WWE Universe at home. Attitudes and all!
With limited personnel available, Michael Cole split commentary duties with Triple H. Cole’s nickname for the night could have been ‘Captain Obvious’ because he kept mentioning the fact that there were no fans in attendance.
What happened during the show?
- After Triple H’s intro, the show started with women’s tag team action – Sasha Banks and Bayley vs Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. Banks and Bayley picked up the win with an assist from Asuka. (Apparently, she’s heard Alexa’s messages!)
- Roman Reigns talked about his WrestleMania match with Goldberg.
- A replay of the SD Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber match.
- The Miz and John Morrison celebrated their Chamber win.
- Mojo Rawley made an appearance to confirm rumors about Rob Gronkowski and to announce his friend would be on next week’s episode of SmackDown.
- Daniel Bryan vs Cesaro. Bryan picked up the win but ended up on the end of a 3-on-1 assault from Cesaro, Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura. Although Drew Gulak attempted to help out, the number’s game turned out to be too much.
- Jeff Hardy made his WWE return in a match against King Corbin. Hardy showed no signs of ring rust when he picked up the win.
- John Cena appeared to talk about his return and WrestleMania match against Bray Wyatt, who made also made an appearance. The show ended with the two in the ring face-to-face.
In the end, the WWE Universe put the world on pause for two hours to be entertained by their favorite superstars. Thank you, WWE for providing an escape from the madness! Extra points go to Triple H for providing a little comic relief!
That’s all for this installment of The Queen’s Take – Thank you, WWE!
